Business Overview

We are seeking a skilled UX Designer to contribute to Rakuten's uniqueness as One Rakuten by enhancing and enriching the UX/UI of Rakuten's ecosystem of services via creating/executing UX/UI strategies, as well as working hands on with projects from the Marketing division, CEO Office, and our businesses.

Through the tasks, you will contribute towards ensuring the products and services offered by Rakuten Group Inc., remain consistent and of high quality.

In addition, you will gain knowledge and understanding of the various service products Rakuten Group has to offer, and get to know and work with some of the service product stakeholders thus widening your community of product and creative specialists.

Rakuten Experience (ReX)

Position Details

You will be assigned as a UX designer for following types of projects:

Developing design guidelines and/or design systems (incl. accessibility).

Provide UX/UI reviews/consultations/support/hands-on for ecosystem of service products to ensure consistent experience and quality.

(ie. Reviews of service products, development projects for new services or PoC, user research, interviews, personas, journey maps, wireframes, etc.).

Gather and evaluate user requirements in collaboration with product managers, engineers and UI designers both inside and outside of dept.

Create rapid product prototypes and be able to test with users, analyze the gathered data, and iterate design to enhance the user experience.

Facilitate and conduct skill training and/or workshop sessions (ideation/conceptual generation) for internal designers and product teams.

Periodical Benchmarking and analysis of global and Japanese product/services/apps.

Update and maintain the Brand & ReX Design system guideline (with new content, updates, etc.).

Work Environment

You will work with internal/external UX designers, UI designers, Developers, Governance teams, participate in Usability Assurance Testing, and on CEO Office projects.

Mandatory Qualifications:

3+ years of experience in UX design.

Ability to demonstrate a solid grasp of user-centered design, testing methodologies, usability and accessibility concerns.

Ability to draw upon results from user research and translate into wireframes, user journeys, storyboards, prototypes, site maps, screen flows, and mockups optimized for a wide range of devices and interfaces.

Ability to design with emphasis on user perspectives whilst taking into consideration of the business goals and functional constraints.

Design knowledge and experience in a variety of devices and interfaces.

High level proficiency in design tool, Figma (wire framing, etc.).

Works well under the direction of others and independently.

Ability to work effectively with stakeholders with different backgrounds across different projects.

Clearly and effectively communicate design processes, ideas, and solutions to teams and stakeholders.

Consistently learning and can quickly implement learning into the process/work.

Fluent in Japanese (required for negotiations with domestic stakeholders, facilitate/conduct trainings and workshops, etc.).

Fluent in English (team communication, required for negotiations with global and non-Japanese stakeholders, facilitate/conduct trainings and workshops, etc).

Desired Qualifications:

Has a basic understanding about how front-end code (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, etc.) is used to build interfaces.

Have a rudimentary understanding of development methods for easier communication with engineers and developers.

Languages:

English (Overall - 4 - Fluent), Japanese (Overall - 4 - Fluent)
