Inviting applications for the role of Assistant Manager [Merchant onboarding & periodical review] The merchant onboarding & periodical review officer is responsible for conducting end to end review of merchants' legitimacy for different entities or individuals, all levels.

You will work extensively with functional leaders in Financial Crime Risk Service line and support functions to maintain production and quality of the highest standard.

Responsibilities

  • Work with client teams per the authority delegated to you from time-to-time.
  • Review merchant onboarding files and confirm the legitimacy by cross-checking with external information sources such as websites, JCCA Database and other appropriate records.
  • Conducting quality check on completed merchant onboarding review files as per established quality framework and meet the required agreed SLAs
  • Conduct periodical review of the merchants' profile as per the established processes.
  • Investigation of a merchant based on complaints from credit card users and/or based on the results of transaction monitoring.
  • Transaction monitoring and fraud detection.
  • Review policies and procedures, regulatory compliance training for compliance with applicable laws and regulations including Installment Sales Act and Specified Commercial Transaction Act.
  • Performs periodic reviews and evaluations of products, services, and business activities to validate compliance with applicable laws and regulations or detect regulatory violations, weak controls or other potential areas of exposure.
  • Conducts compliance assessments and provides direction on any deficiencies detected by those assessments.
  • Tracks and validates product compliance deficiencies to completion
  • Participates in development of compliance sessions/presentations.
  • Participates in training promoting compliance awareness.
  • Maintain accurate, organized and current compliance records and documentation in a manner consistent with the department's needs
  • Management of resources and act as the business intermediary
  • Ensuring all the tasks assigned to you are completed to the highest quality
  • Ownership of and contribution to various high priority projects, working with hands on approach to ensure successful completion
  • Manage client relationship and stakeholders.
  • Assist in creating and present monthly dashboards, reports and business reviews
  • Interpret evidence from multiple tools and systems to determine legitimacy of customer behavior across multiple product
  • Assist with monitoring and tracking incidents to ensure resolution occurs within the customer Service Level Agreement
  • Seek routine problems, largely through precedent and referral to general guidelines
  • Provide mentorship, guidance and career development to members of your team
  • Lead a high-performing team through an exciting transition to build problem solving, critical thinking, analytical and technical capabilities which will enable the department to develop deeper, more scalable solutions
  • Establish team goals and work with direct reports on strategies for executing, measuring progress and sharing results
  • Identify actionable insights, suggest recommendations, and influence team strategy through effective communication Minimum Qualifications
  • Business level of English (read and write)
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree or equivalent
  • Experience in a similar or comparable role including people management experience
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills with the ability to work in a dynamic working environment
  • Ability to understand technical documents and legal or regulatory reference materials.
  • Ability to provide information to a variety of audiences and deal effectively with confidential issues that are sensitive in nature.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills
  • Passion for ensuring an excellent user experience Preferred qualifications
  • Knowledge of Credit card industry, especially on merchant acquisition and onboarding, Japan Credit Card Association and/or related regulations such as Japanese Installment Sales Act and Specified Commercial Transaction Act
  • Knowledge of KYC, USA PATRIOT Act, Bank Secrecy Act and/or AML regulations
