Senior Solutions Architect

The Senior Solutions Architect is responsible for helping customers achieve effective security policy outcomes using Fastly's suite of security offerings. This role requires in-depth technical knowledge of Fastly's security products, especially the Fastly Next-Gen WAF, and expertise in web application security best practices and trends.

They collaborate with customers to understand their security requirements and work with them to architect, implement, and maintain secure and performant solutions to meet their security challenges. The candidate will be central to the customer journey, from initial deployment and on-boarding to ongoing customization, ensuring a secure and reliable experience.

What You'll Do:

• Ensure our customers are successful with the implementation and configuration of Fastly's security products.

• Deeply understand customer security requirements, and architect, implement, and maintain secure and performant Next-Gen WAF solutions across various deployment models (Edge WAF, Cloud WAF, On-Prem WAF).

• Provide architectural guidance to support large and complex technical projects, systems integration, and solution implementation.

• Provide technical leadership within the Solutions team and act as a mentor to others.

• Provide training to customers on Fastly products and web security best practices.

• Act as a technical liaison between Client Services teams, Engineering, Product Management, and Product Marketing, ensuring the voice of customers is heard and helping to improve the product.

• Assist in pre-sales activities such as Proof-of-Concept work and providing architectural guidance to our pre-sales teams.

• Manage project status in our project management tools.

What We're Looking For: 

• At least 8+ years of total experience in Solutions, Engineering, or a similar customer-facing role.

• Experience creating and delivering advanced web and security solutions for enterprise customers (3+ years preferred).

• Strong knowledge and hands-on experience of web application security concepts (e.g., OWASP Top 10).

• Deep understanding of common internet protocols, particularly HTTP & TLS, and related troubleshooting tools and techniques (e.g., curl, dig, tcpdump).

• Experience with web and CDN security technologies including WAF, DDoS, and rate limiting.

• Experience with foundational technologies, including SaaS/Cloud or hybrid cloud deployments.

• Proficiency in Unix/Linux or Windows systems administration (3+ years Linux/UNIX administration preferred).

• Experience with Apache/NGINX/IIS or other web server platforms and associated application server technologies and frameworks.

• Scripting ability with any of the following: Python, Java, Go, PHP, Unix/Linux Shell, C#, or other common Web languages.

• A creative, out-of-the-box problem solver with the ability and experience in troubleshooting software products.

• Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.

We'll be super impressed if you have experience in any of these: 

• Industry recognized security or cloud service/edge compute provider certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISA, AWS,GCP).

• Experience writing/decoding security exploits and vulnerabilities.

• Experience with building logging pipelines to analyze real-time events.

• This position will require you to be available during core business hours.
