Department Overview

The EC Solution Development Department's mission is to promote and expand the diversity of the marketplace. The organization develops tools and services essential for the operation of merchants on Rakuten Ichiba, while also working on the expansion of various EC services and the launch of new EC services.

The Delivery Quality Enhancement Group's mission is to enable the rapid delivery of high-quality systems to the market by providing quality assurance and platform engineering to development teams within the EC Solutions Development Department. By working closely with these teams, we are involved in a wide range of development projects, including the launch of new e-commerce services. This presents a highly challenging environment and offers unique experiences that are distinctive to Rakuten.

Position:

Why We Hire

We are looking for a QA Lead to drive quality improvement for our e-commerce services.

Development and quality assurance are conducted across multiple locations, including Japan, China, Bangladesh and India. You will be responsible for promoting project quality assurance in collaboration with engineers at each location.

Additionally, you will work with the QA Manager to design and manage quality assurance processes and lead team members.

- Design and management of quality assurance processes
- Management of the QA team
- Creation of Test Plan
- Creation and management of Test Scope Master
- Review test cases
- Collaboration with test automation engineers
- Execution and supervision of testing activities
- Analysis of quality data and creation of reports
- Standardization and improvement of test process
- Collaboration with stakeholders
- Risk management from a quality assurance perspective
- Staying up-to-date with the latest technologies, tools, and best practices in the QA field

Work Environment

You will join a group consisting of QA engineers and DevOps engineers, and work collaboratively with PDMs and development teams within the department to contribute to the rapid release of high-quality solutions to customers. The group is composed of members from various nationalities, and communication is conducted in English.

Our QA team is composed of engineers with diverse backgrounds, including quality assurance, software testing theory, test automation, information security, and application development.

Cucumber, Playwright, Javascript, Typescript, Gherkin(BDD), MagicPod, Robot Framework, Selenium, Appium, Bruno, TestRail, Practi Test, Windows server, Linux, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Maria DB, Redis, Elasticsearch, Kubernetes, Docker, Kafka, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Java, Python, C#, Sentry, Rundeck, Google Cloud Platform, In-house Cloud Environment etc

Mandatory Qualifications:

- Over 5 years of hands-on experience in software testing and quality assurance.
- Over 8 years of combined experience in IT, including QA, PDM, Project Management, and Development roles.
- Fundamental knowledge of test automation strategy and management
- Experience in designing and managing quality assurance processes
- Experience in creating test plans and defining test scope
- Led QA teams (3+ members) in previous roles.
- Experience with defect management tools such as JIRA and Bugzilla
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- QA experience across front-end, back-end, and mobile applications
- Strong understanding of ISTQB Foundation Level concepts
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent knowledge

Desired Qualifications:

- Experience with test automation tools such as Playwright, Selenium, Appium, and Jenkins
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and related tools, including Jenkins and GitHub Actions
- Knowledge and experience in the internet services industry
- Knowledge and experience in e-commerce services
- Understanding of ISTQB Test Manager or Test Analyst Level concepts
- Experienced in integrating QA in Agile and DevOps environments.
- Managed teams (10+ members) across multiple locations, including overseas.
- Experienced in project management, including serving as Project Manager.
- Experienced in system development, including serving as Development Leader.
- Basic Japanese language skills
- Basic Chinese language, Mandarin, skills
