We are looking for an experienced, highly motivated and self-confident Senior Legal Counsel supporting our fast-growing international RWE Offshore Wind business.

As a Senior Legal Counsel in the Construction & Procurement Law Department you will work alongside other members of the RWE Offshore Wind Legal Team and closely cooperate with other departments to deliver a holistic and streamlined service to the business of RWE Offshore Wind around the globe.

Being allocated to selected offshore projects, you will be the first point of contact providing legal support for those projects. You will advise the projects directly in your area of expertise as well as coordinate the legal advice of specialized inhouse and external legal experts.

Your Role :

  • Providing legal advice for highly complex international construction projects with a focus on Japanese projects
  • Advising on, developing, drafting and negotiating of all kinds of procurement contracts required for the full life cycle of RWE Offshore Wind business (such as turbine supply agreements, foundation agreements, EPC(I) & turnkey contracts, purchase agreements for components, service agreements, contracts for maritime logistics (e.g. BIMCO) etc.)
  • Keeping oversight of all legal matters relating to projects in your remit (including legal matters covered by other specialized lawyers) and advising senior management about all related legal risks, including claims and disputes
  • Driving standardisation and process improvement initiatives
  • Developing non-standard, customised solutions when needed to address complex project challenges
  • Establishing and nurturing effective cross-functional and cross-cultural working relationships with legal and business colleagues in the relevant regions and the wider RWE group including the provision of high quality legal and contractual training

    • Your qualifications :

  • Team player with an open, positive, and solution-oriented mindset and the desire to closely collaborate with RWE colleagues around the globe
  • Fully qualified as a lawyer in Japan with advanced legal skills and ideally additional international qualification (PhD, LL.M)
  • At least 8 years of work experience as a lawyer or inhouse counsel in a leading law firm or company with a focus on international construction and procurement law
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, take on new responsibilities and prioritize work in a dynamic environment
  • Advanced commercial and technical understanding of large industrial projects and the ability to provide tailormade high quality legal support
  • Good organizational, analytical and communication skills
  • A high level of engagement, is a strong team contributor and is able to work individually and cross-functionally
  • Fluent proficiency in English (Japanese language are desirable), enjoys working in an international team and is open to some work-related travel
