This role focuses on designing, deploying, and operating advanced Radio Access Network (RAN) infrastructure to support ultra-low latency wireless connectivity for high‑frequency trading in Japan.
The engineer will own the full lifecycle of RAN design, implementation, licensing, and optimization across 5G, microwave, and other radio technologies, working independently in the field and closely with regional leadership.
Key Responsibilities - RAN Engineer
Design, deploy, and optimize 5G, microwave, and radio RAN infrastructure to deliver consistently low latency and high throughput for trading applications.
Secure and maintain all required radio station and equipment licences in Japan, managing documentation and certifications in line with local telecom regulations, including approvals for each new transmitter or site.
Install, configure, troubleshoot, and repair RAN components such as base stations, radio transmitters, and wireless data links, ensuring performance targets and spectrum rules are met.
Manage relationships with vendors and service providers, including site selection, site acquisition, and coordination of operational and permitting processes for new and existing locations.
Continuously monitor and tune RAN performance, including latency, jitter, interference, and link reliability, and execute corrective actions to maintain ultra‑low‑latency connectivity.
Act as the primary technical lead for RAN in Japan, coordinating with regional headquarters, producing regular operational and compliance reports, and serving as the subject‑matter expert for 5G and wireless connectivity.
Travel extensively across Japan to install, service, and optimize RAN sites and wireless network components as required by trading and business needs.
Stay up to date with Japanese telecom legislation, spectrum allocation, and market activity, particularly developments relevant to low‑latency trading infrastructure.
Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to high ethical standards in the design and operation of competitive wireless trading infrastructure.Candidate Profile for the RAN Engineer - TELEC Certified MIC
Strong background in RAN or radio/wireless network engineering with hands‑on experience in 4G/5G and/or microwave systems.
Proven experience designing, deploying, and optimizing radio networks in the field, ideally in latency‑sensitive or mission‑critical environments.
Good understanding of Japanese telecom regulations, licensing processes, and spectrum management, or strong willingness and ability to gain this expertise quickly.
Comfortable working independently, taking full ownership of technical decisions, field operations, and regulatory interactions across Japan.Excellent communication skills for collaborating with remote regional stakeholders and coordinating with external partners and vendors.
