We are seeking an
AI Scientist
who will lead the acceleration of drug discovery projects through cutting-edge AI technologies and conduct mid- to long-term research on emerging AI methodologies that will define the next generation of digital drug discovery.

This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with global clients and internal experts, bridging science and data to deliver tangible impact on how new medicines are discovered.

Position Overview

As a member of the
Digital Unit (R&D Department)
, you will serve as the AI lead within multidisciplinary drug discovery teams.

You will apply your technical expertise and leadership to propose, implement, and optimize AI-driven solutions for complex challenges in pharmaceutical research.

Half of your time will focus on
direct project acceleration
, while the other half will be devoted to
R&D on future AI technologies
that can transform the industry within the next 6–12 months.

Key Responsibilities

  • Represent the Digital Unit within drug discovery projects, collaborating with domestic and international clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Propose, implement, and apply state-of-the-art AI technologies to accelerate project progress.
  • Conduct R&D on next-generation AI tools expected to be needed within 6–12 months.
  • Drive innovation by identifying challenges and designing effective AI-based solutions.
  • Contribute to publications, presentations, and cross-functional discussions on AI for life sciences.

Qualifications

Required

  • Ph.D. or Master's degree in a field related to
    machine learning
    ,
    AI
    , or
    data science
  • Minimum
    3 years of experience
    as a data scientist (preferred)
  • Strong programming experience in
    Python
  • Demonstrated
    leadership
    and proactive problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to collaborate in a cross-functional, global environment
  • English proficiency (business level) for communication and negotiation with overseas partners

Preferred

  • Knowledge or experience in
    drug discovery
    ,
    chemoinformatics
    , or
    bioinformatics
  • Publications or accepted papers at
    top-tier AI/ML conferences
    (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR)

Employment Conditions

  • Work Hours:
    9:00–17:45 (60-min break)
  • Flextime (no core hours) or discretionary labor system
  • Holidays:
    Weekends, national holidays, year-end/New Year (approx. 124 days/year)
  • Includes paid leave, maternity/paternity leave, childcare and caregiving leave
  • Location:
    Kanagawa, Japan (Hybrid Work Options Available)

Compensation & Benefits

  • Annual Income:
    ¥10,000,000+ (negotiable)
  • Monthly Base Salary:
    ¥680,000+ (including allowances)
  • Allowances:
