BNY Investment Management Japan Limited is looking for a Governance and Controls Manager at Senior Vice President level to based in Japan to support the APAC business.
In this role, you'll make a significant impact by making our company better so that we can deliver more to our clients.
Data Lifecycle & Records Management:
Acting as Records Management Coordinator (RMC) for the region, ensuring file plans and data retention comply with policies, attending trainings, and conducting annual reviews;
Governance & Committee Support:
Providing secretariat services for various management committees across APAC, preparing materials and presentations for management and board meetings, and supporting corporate secretary functions;
Privacy & Data Protection:
Serving as Local Privacy Officer, leading privacy program deliverables, updating privacy procedures, managing PIPI reviews, and promoting privacy awareness;
Vendor & Contract Management:
Overseeing vendor management in the APAC region, client contract uploads, and outsourcing due diligence in line with local regulatory guidelines and BNY policy, managing inter-affiliate Service Level Documents (SLDs) and associated reporting and oversight;
Controls & Resiliency:
Provide regional support across BNY Investments on the successful delivery of key tasks that for example supporting Risk Control and Self-Assessment (RCSA) documentation and maintenance of resiliency plans and records;
Business Change and Project Delivery and Oversight: For example leading compliance regulatory related projects (e.g., FSA updates, MAS guidelines), tracking the successful remediation of regulatory, audit and compliance findings, and coordinating regulatory surveys and attestations;
Ad-hoc Projects & Initiatives: Supporting projects such as cybersecurity awareness exercises, regulatory system implementations, new regulatory implementation, etc;
Reporting & Certification:
Managing email retention certification, annual attestations (e.g., Volcker Rule, US reporting), qualified intermediary reporting, and maintaining regulatory filings and portals.
(including basic translation of business documents, for example internal reporting/materials, when required.); andUnderstanding and adhering to corporate policies/ procedures / internal controls/ regulations, including but not limited to vendor management, AML, KYC, Anti-Tax Evasion, Anit-Bribery and Corruption and sanctions requirements, potentially completing required risk assessments for the Japan and APAC entities and promptly escalate potential risks.
To be successful in this role, we're seeking the following:Bachelor's degree holder preferable major in Business or Finance
5-10 years of governance/controls/operations/business administration support work experience in Investment Management / Asset Management preferred. Working experience in the Banking industry would be considered.
Diligent, detail-minded, curious, and be able to work in a multi-tasking environment.
Good communication and presentation skills.
Excellent skills in Microsoft Offices and experience in AI and database operations would be advantageous.
Fluent Japanese and business level English.
An ability Focus on successful delivery of goals and demonstrate a sense of personal accountability and urgency to achieve results.
