Job Description Summary
C&W Research & Consulting, within Business Development Services department, supports the company's growth in the field of real estate market research and analysis by providing service lines and clients with superior expertise in a timely manner. R&C help our clients win new business by providing accurate and reliable statistical real estate market data and reports in line with company standards and through excellent market knowledge and presentation. R&C also provide internal and external clients with in-depth market analysis to help them make sound real estate decisions.

The position is a key leader within Cushman & Wakefield's Business Development Services team, the Director, Research & Consulting, within the Business Development Services department in Japan who plays a pivotal role in shaping and executing the firm's research strategy to support business growth and client success. This role is responsible for delivering high-impact, data-driven insights and thought leadership that position C&W as the premier authority in Japan's real estate market.

Reporting to the Head of Business Development Services, Japan, the Director will drive strategic initiatives, and ensure the timely delivery of high-quality market intelligence, consulting projects, and client-facing presentations. This individual will serve as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders and clients, leveraging deep market knowledge and analytical rigor to inform real estate decisions and enable business opportunities.

Job Description
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Leadership & Execution

  • Develop and execute a forward-looking research and consulting strategy aligned with business objectives and market opportunities.
  • Lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of national and regional/global research outputs, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and strategic relevance.
  • Champion innovation in research methodologies, tools, and deliverables to enhance client value and competitive differentiation.

Thought Leadership & Market Intelligence

  • Drive the creation of compelling thought leadership content that elevates the firm's profile and informs key stakeholders on market trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Represent C&W as a subject matter expert through media engagements, industry events, and speaking opportunities.
  • Maintain a strong market presence by cultivating relationships with industry bodies, clients, and strategic partners.

Client Engagement & Advisory

  • Deliver high-impact presentations and consulting solutions that support client decision-making and business development efforts.
  • Collaborate with service line leaders to identify client needs and tailor research deliverables that drive deal execution and client satisfaction.
  • Lead responses to Requests for Proposal (RFPs) and oversee the delivery of consulting mandates that exceed client expectations.

Team Development & Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Mentor, coach, and develop professionals to build a high-performing, insights-driven business.
  • Foster collaboration across service lines, Marketing & Communications to ensure alignment and maximize the impact of research initiatives.
  • Promote the use of research tools, databases, and proprietary platforms across the organization to enhance data literacy and strategic thinking.

Operational Excellence

  • Oversee the integrity and quality of proprietary databases and historical market archives.
  • Ensure robust data governance and continuous improvement in research processes and outputs.
  • Monitor market dynamics and proactively identify emerging trends to inform business strategy.
