Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

• Evaluation/Qualification/Technical Support/troubleshooting of customer applications at SiC LLC and at customer sites, both pre- and post-sale.
• Field Application Engineer will be the interface between customer, sales organization, and BU to promote SiC LLC products by applying technical knowledge of SiC epitaxial wafers to improve epi/device yields and reduce overall operational costs.
• Maintain and continue to pursue new Applications expertise for Silicon Carbide substrates, epi wafers and Implant Servies: publish of applications notes, perform product demonstrations, present at technical conferences.
• Focus on VALUE selling by enhancing overall customer yields.
• Staying updated on new features, updates, and industry trends, and effectively communicate this information to customers.
• Customer application training both at SiC LLC and at customer sites; development of initial customer applications parameters in factory and/or at customer site.
• Gather feedback from customers regarding product performance and user experience and communicate this information to internal teams for continuous improvement.
• Requires capability to aid customer with integration with their control systems.
• Responsibility for the day-to-day support across the region in support of our customer base at their Applications facilities, conduct on-site visits to customer locations for technical assessments, system installations, and troubleshooting, fostering strong customer relationships.
• Work closely with sales teams to understand customer requirements, participate in pre-sales discussions, and provide technical expertise to support the sales process.
• Interface also with Substrate and Epi Sales and technical personnel to help augment those customer relationships and aid with trouble-shooting
• Understands their primary role of representing Coherent's business interests while supporting and communicating customer needs
• Collaborate with product development teams to conduct testing and validation of new products or features, providing valuable insights from a field perspective.
• Provide specifications for and be key participant in engineering projects for development of applications-based product accessories.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's in engineering or other related field is required. Master or higher degree in material science or engineering is preferred.
• Field application experience in Semiconductor industry > 7 years
• Hands-on expertise in the field of Compound Semiconductors, SiC, Epitaxial process is a plus.

Skills & Other Requirements

• Proficient computer skills, experience with Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Email, internet access.
• Fluent in written and verbal translation skills to and from English and Japanese.
• Excellent communication skills to build better relationships by communicating smoothly across departments and with overseas offices.
• Ability to work under direct supervision operating from broad concepts and transform these concepts into concrete program action items/plans.
• Ability to solve problems in a timely and proficient manner.
• Ability to handle multiple programs and priorities.

Working Conditions

• Normal office conditions with limited off-hours phone calls.
• Willing to travel on business (within Japan or overseas.
