About the Role
We are looking for an experienced AV Engineer with strong hands-on expertise in PBX, VOIP, and telephony systems.
In this role, you will deliver voice communication solutions, perform field installations, troubleshoot complex telephony setups, and support multi-platform integrations for clients across Japan.
This position requires a technical, customer-focused professional who can work independently and manage daily service operations.Key Responsibilities
Install, program, test, and troubleshoot analog, digital, and IP voice systems.
Support PBX/VOIP platforms such as Avaya, NEC, Mitel, Cisco, Shoretel, Unify, etc.
Deliver telephony solutions, including voicemail, call center systems, SIP/TDM trunking, and related peripherals.
Perform moves, adds, and changes (MAC) and complete work orders accurately.
Troubleshoot voice delivery issues across POTS, T1/T3, SIP, CAS, and digital/analog transmission.
Conduct on-site client visits for installation, maintenance, and emergency support.
Coordinate with NOC teams, project managers, and internal operations for efficient project execution.
Maintain documentation such as time reports, work orders, and SLA-related logs.
Manage tools, equipment, and inventory required for field operations.
Attend required meetings, workshops, and training sessions.
Requirements
Associate degree or technical certification in IT/Telecommunication, or equivalent experience.
5+ years of hands-on experience with PBX/VOIP systems and voice communication platforms.
Expertise in installing, servicing, and troubleshooting voice telecom equipment and attached servers.
Experience with one or more systems: Avaya, NEC, Mitel, Cisco, Shoretel, Unify.
Understanding of telephony delivery methods:
copper, fiber, analog/digital, VOIP, SIP, TDM, etc.
Strong PC and operating system knowledge (Windows, Linux, Unix).
Basic understanding of network infrastructure.
Excellent customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to lift equipment (up to 50 lbs frequently).
Valid driver's license.
Preferred Certifications
Avaya ACIS/ACSS/ACSE, Mitel, NEC, Cisco, Shoretel, or Unify certifications.
