Job Summary
The Imports Senior Manager is responsible for managing the end-to-end import process, ensuring compliance with Japanese regulations and AB InBev standards. This role oversees documentation, customs clearance, shipment tracking, and issue resolution while driving cost optimization and operational efficiency. The position also owns quality and complaints management, artwork coordination, and intercompany processes such as transfer pricing and reconciliations.
Job Responsibilities
Import Operations Management:
- Oversee and manage the end-to-end import operations process.
- Oversee and manage with our export teams that all necessary import documentation are available, including Bill of Lading, Certificates of Origin, and Customs Declarations, ensuring compliance with Japan regulations.
- Track shipments, resolving issues related to delays, damages, or discrepancies.
- Oversee intercompany reconciliation of goods in transit balances and accounts payable.
Compliance & Regulatory Management:
- Ensure all imports comply with Japan regulations, including customs clearance, import tariffs, and duties.
- Liaise with customs and other regulatory agencies to resolve compliance issues.
Artwork Management
- Coordinate artwork approvals and manage JAN code creation for imported products.
- Ensure timely and accurate execution of packaging and labeling requirements.
Quality Assurance:
- Develop and implement quality control procedures to ensure that imported goods meet AB InBev's standards and specifications.
- Collaborate with 3PL and quality control teams to inspect shipments and address any quality concerns before and after delivery.
Complaints & Issue Resolution:
- Act as the primary contact for resolving complaints related to quality issues.
- Investigate and manage issues related to damaged or non-compliant goods, working with exporters to resolve disputes.
- Work with internal teams and external partners to ensure quick and satisfactory resolutions to complaints while minimizing any impact on business operations.
- Implement corrective actions and preventative measures to avoid future complaints and ensure ongoing quality improvement.
Vendor Management:
- Work with Procurement to negotiate contracts and rates with suppliers, shipping agents, and transportation providers to optimize costs and improve service levels.
- Monitor vendor performance and collaborate with suppliers to improve lead times, quality, and pricing.
Cost Control & Optimization:
- Analyze and manage import costs, looking for cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality and timelines.
- Implement initiatives to streamline and improve logistics efficiency.
