Role Overview

SkyDrive are looking for a passionate and talented engineer to join the Loads Team. The role is multi-disciplinary and applicants must have a passion for new technology whilst working in a len manor to achieve program objectives and help to SkyDrive deliver a range of certified eVTOLs into the Advanced Air Mobility Eco-System.

The role will require interfacing with many disciplines, including Structures, Aerodynamics, Simulation, Flight Characteristics, Flight Controls, Test (rigs, ground and flight), requirements management and all activities associated with achieving certification.

The successful candidate will form a part of a small technical team and requires good interpersonal skills (in a multilingual environment), strong work ethic, efficient self-management, passion to learn new skills and help develop others.

The role will involve work across multiple aspects of static and dynamic Loads analysis for manned Air Mobility products, including:

• Define, develop and implement the environment, models and tools for Loads and Dynamic analysis
• Flight and ground load analysis and modelling requirements capture
• Preparation of Certification Plan, including MoC definition 
• Interface with Certification Authorities (JCAB/FAA/EASA etc) as required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for Loads and Dynamic analysis.
• Support aircraft level integration by providing Loads and Dynamic expertise and tools to support the programme and the activities of other technical teams.
• Positively participate in development and management of Loads and Dynamic analysis and design requirements, from capture, through V&V and compliance for certification.
• Apply best practice by combining knowledge from conventional aerospace and new approaches for eVTOL. Emphasis on the needs of a lean start-up culture with novel designs and unique operational characteristics.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years experience in Loads  and Dynamics analysis for aerospace vehicles. 
• Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team that has developed and applied Loads analysis and simulation tools and environments.
• Knowledge of technical requirements for Loads discipline and participated in managing them throughout the life-cycle (capture, mature, validation and verification).
• Knowledge in at least one-of Part/CS 23/25/27/29 requirements relating to Loads and Dynamic.
• Proficiency in NASTRAN, FEMAP, Python or MATLAB workflows for static, dynamic and aeroelastic analyses.
• Fundamental understanding of structural dynamics, unsteady aerodynamics and aeroelastic. 

Desirable Skills

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering/Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering or related discipline.
• Loads knowledge and experience for multicopters. If no practical experience then at least an understanding of theory and the challenges associated with certification (and major differences to conventional f/wing or r/wing).
• Experience of executing Loads related ground and flight test programmes for aerospace vehicles.
• Experience with Interactions of Systems of Structures regulations and/or computing loads for aircraft with fly-by-wire control system.
• Understanding of multi-copters and rotor blades aerodynamics and rotor dynamics and impact on Loads requirements and analysis.
• Experience in software design and development skills.
• Knowledge of proposed eVTOL regulations and means of compliance.
• Previous experienced with eVTOL and/ Or Helicopter 
• Experience in developing analysis from a blank sheet and from first principles to aid aircraft design, integration and testing.
• Knowledge on Aeroelastic Finite Element Modeling in NASTRAN and conduct aeroelastic stability analysis (flutter and whirl flutter).

Working Hours

• Flextime or Discretionary labor system

Salary

• Estimated Annual Salary: JPY 6,850,000 - JPY 10,280,000
• Monthly Salary: JPY 571,000 - JPY 857,000
  • Includes fixed overtime pay for 45 hours, amounting to JPY 197,680 - JPY 296,697
    *Additional overtime pay will be provided for hours exceeding the fixed overtime.
