The team
Hitachi Digital Services Japan, which is the HDS's Japan country office, is strengthening its offshore engineering services leveraging development centers in Vietnam and India, building a global delivery structure that combines high quality and cost competitiveness.
Analyze existing COBOL batch programs and prepare migration plans.
Perform automated conversion from COBOL to Java.
Design and implement Java-based solutions ensuring functional equivalence with legacy systems.
Conduct phased testing, including unit testing, integration testing, and system testing.
What You'll Bring
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
At least 3 years of experience in Java development.
Have experience with COBOL, particularly batch programs.
Experience or exposure to COBOL-to-Java migration or legacy modernization projects.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
Ability and willingness to work onsite in Kawasaki, Japan.
Language proficiency
Japanese:
Native or business level.
English:
Business level (for meetings and documentation with overseas centers).
Vietnamese:
Business level (for communication and negotiation with local SE teams).
