Position Overview

This position covers wide range of Compliance activities and is responsible for handling the aspects of Japan Compliance and complex issues. Lead and work on the following compliance activities in consultation with Associate Director, the Head of Compliance:

  • Enhance Personal Information Management System in the Japan Branch including assessing risks of each function and establishing monitoring systems regarding handling of Personal Information
  • Conduct assessments and establish necessary systems required by Japan Privacy Law and relevant regulations
  • Coordinate with Global Information Security team to handle inquiries from clients regarding Personal Information security system
  • Ensure all activities comply with regulations by consulting with lawyers through Asia Pacific legal function
  • Conduct Compliance trainings for Japan branch
  • Coordinate Management Board and Compliance Committee in the Japan Branch
  • Conduct Compliance self-check based on the FSA Supervisory Guideline
  • Conduct Outsourcing management in the Japan Branch
  • Conduct other Compliance activities such as updating internal rules and registering updated company information on the registration
  • Manage contracts such as NDAs, MOUs and other Agreements

    • Responsibilities

    This position is responsible for including but not limited to the following;

  • Reviewing and updating compliance manuals and other compliance rules and policies on a regular basis. Interact with each function of the branch to make sure all the needed manuals and policies for the branch are in place.
  • Actively monitor the Branch's compliance with applicable laws and regulations related to the insurance business and the policies of the Branch and RGA by conducting compliance self-check based on FSA Supervisory Guideline. Work with Associate Director, the Head of Compliance and take actions against changes of the regulations.
  • Actively monitor corporate policy updates and take actions to amend the branch rules & policies in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate the Management Board and the Compliance Committee and prepare the minutes of it.
  • Identify operational risks that potentially expose the Branch or RGA to regulatory or other legal sanctions, client complaints, adverse publicity or litigation or otherwise adversely affect the Branch or RGA.
  • Monitor and comply with revisions of Insurance Business Act and its enforcement regulations and other laws and regulations applicable to the Branch's business.
  • Review policies, rules and manuals subject to "legal check" under the FSA Supervisory Guideline and identify and escalate issues as necessary.
  • Plan and conduct compliance training for employees periodically.
  • Build and maintaining positive working relationships with each function of the branch.
  • Lead and manage other compliance activities as necessary.

    • Requirements

    Required Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 10 years of compliance experience in the insurance business
  • Understanding of FSA reporting requirements and practices
  • Deep knowledge on Japan Privacy Law and relevant regulations as well as information security guidelines such as FISC
  • Business level English, especially writing and reading
