ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN
BB&E is a full service civil and environmental engineering and consulting firm, headquartered in Northville, Michigan, which services both the Federal and Industrial sectors throughout the United States.
Position Summary
BB&E is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Engineering Technician to join our team, providing technical support and serve as a Facility Condition Assessment (FCA) team member by providing advisory and assistance services and high quality, on time deliverables in support of the 18 CES Operations Engineering Element at Kadena Air Base, Japan.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Validate all Component Sections for each facility on the BUILDER inventory. Add and delete component sections as necessary to reflect modifications to facilities, or inaccurate inventories
Work closely with the 18 CES Operations Engineering Element team to ensure operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and mission success by delivering quality deliverables on time and within budget
Update component section description fields to make them as accurate as possible to help eliminate any vagueness when identifying which component section record reflects which real world component
Rate the condition of each component section in accordance with the BUILDER assessment manuals and AFIT BUILDER training
Must complete the BUILDER Level 1 & 2 trainings offered by AFIT
Completely assess 350 buildings per year, as assigned, with 95% of the building components reflecting as updated
Key Qualifications
U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain/maintain a NACI/CAC is required
Knowledge:
Must be knowledgeable with the following:
Technical knowledge of refrigeration, heating, and cooling systems
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
Technical knowledge of Air Force CES IT systems, including but not limited to NexGen IT/TRIRIGA, BUILDER, GeoBase, and Sharepoint
Ability to develop and test models of different design and process methods to evaluate feasibility, sustainability, and required modifications
Ability to prepare clear and concise documents, such as functional specifications and technical requirements, that guide projects
Ability to review technical documents and provide subject matter expertise that enables identification of root causes, development of solutions, and/or implementation of corrective measures
Expertise in translating industry standards and regulatory requirements into concrete engineering specifications
Strong Communication Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
Software:
Proficiency using MS Office software including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Self-Starter:
Highly motivated, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines autonomously
Experience & Education
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of facilities construction and/or maintenance experience. Familiarity with Air Force Engineering Regulations is preferred
Education:
Accredited Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering related field is required
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand/walk/climb/kneel/crouch and remain in a stationary position/sit at least 60% of the time
Ability to operate office equipment, including computer, copy machine, phone, etc
Ability to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms
Capable of lifting up to 10 lbs
Ability to see details of objects that are less than a few feet away
Ability to understand the speech of another person, speak clearly so listeners can understand, and talk or hear both in person and by telephone
