Okinawa, Japan Amentum Full time

Amentum, a global leader in critical mission support, engineering, technology, and national security solutions, is seeking a Data Entry Clerk I in support of the Hazardous Materials Minimization Center (HMMC) in Okinawa, Japan.

Under a United States Marine Corps Installation Pacific (USMC MCIPAC) contract, HMMC provides hazardous material and hazardous waste support services to the US Marines Corps and its tenant customers located on Okinawa Island, Japan. The Data Entry Clerk performs data entry and material research duties related to hazardous materials (HM) and hazardous waste (HW) operations, which includes verifying data, and processing HM and HW documents, shipments, containers, etc.

This position has a rotating shift and will be subject to shift changes, weekend, holiday and overtime work.  Shift work, weekends, mandatory overtime (with proper notice given) and cross-training can be required in order to meet daily/weekly workload requirements. Relocation costs, housing, housing allowance, will not be provided or reimbursed.

POSITION SUMMARY

1. Processes hazardous materials (HM) and hazardous waste (HW) transactions into designated database systems.

2. Reviews and reconciles data and inventory, creates inventory, prints labels, processes transfers and manages storage locations.

3. Verifies data against manifests, enters data into required databases, updates logs, generates labels for use with containers and deliveries.

4. Prepares and updates documents and profiles, and updates database with status changes (containers relinquished, order deliveries, assignment of delivery orders, etc).

5. Researches and resolves shipments and waste container discrepancies with direction

6. Updates database systems and generates reports for tracking purposes and site management use.

7. Documents workload activity and provides to management for analysis.

8. Serves as a customer service point and assists customers with inquiries.

9. Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Requirements:

1. High school diploma or general education degree (GED); with a minimum of 2 years of related experience. 

2. Demonstrated knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint) required. 

3. Forklift experience or the ability to obtain a forklift license (if required).

4. Completion of company and Government-mandated training within 30 days of start date.

5. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables, ability to research and resolve problems with minimal information provided. 

6. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos and have the ability to write detailed correspondence.

7. Great communication and customer services skills required.  The ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees of the organization.

8. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

9. Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) certified within the past year.

2. Two (2) years experience working in a hazardous material or hazardous waste operations.

3. Hazardous Materials Management System (HMMS) experience.

WORK ENVIRONMENT, PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Typical office environment, occasional lifting up to 50 pounds, constant sitting while using the computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, must possess planning/organizing skills, and must be able to work under deadlines. Ability to lift and carry loads of various weights and dimensions and ability to walk and stand for prolonged periods when working with hazardous material and waste.  May be required to operate a forklift up to 6,000 pounds.

Compensation Details:

$17/hour + 15 COLA
