We are seeking Data Science Engineers with a strong background in user behavior, marketing, fintech, geo-spatial data or full-stack data science product development. The ideal candidate will have experience building data management & science solutions to problems in Telco, Mobility and general Geo Spatial data applications. They will work on science projects with our Offline Behaviors & Intelligence team, develop data science and data management applications, and collaborate with project management, science, engineering and product teams. Key qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, physics, econometrics or equivalent practical experience, 5+ years of data engineering and/or software development experience, English fluency, and strong programming experience in Python, R, Scala, Java, C, C++. Desired qualifications include a publication record or patents in machine learning, data mining, Telco, Geo-Spatial related fields, experience of productizing research outcomes in an industry, and knowledge of Big Data querying tools. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, willing to take challenges to new technologies, research problems and services, and passionate about contributing to businesses by applying innovative solutions to real world problems. They will also have strong database fundamentals, including SQL, performance and schema design, and strong abstraction abilities to create good logical data models. Additional desired qualifications include experience in distributed computing, Agile software development processes, GEO/GIS data processing, DevOps, JSON, Avro, Parquet, and Big Data ML toolkits. The ideal candidate will be located in Rakuten Crimson House and will have a strong passion for contributing to businesses by applying innovative solutions to real world problems.
