Role Description
The Freelance Official Adjudicator in Tokyo will be responsible for attending events and verifying official Guinness World Record attempts by ensuring they meet the organization's strict guidelines and standards. Day-to-day tasks include observing and adjudicating record attempts, preparing detailed reports and certificates, and representing GWR in a professional and engaging manner. This contract-based position requires clear communication and interaction with participants, witnesses, and event organizers. As a hybrid role, some tasks can be performed remotely, but the role is mainly based in Tokyo with travel required to on-site events.
Qualifications
- Strong observation, attention to detail, and record-keeping skills
- Confident public speaking, clear communication, and professionalism
- Ability to handle high-pressure situations, make timely decisions, and interpret rules accurately
- Prior event coordination, mediation, or customer service experience is a plus
- Flexibility to travel locally and work unconventional hours, including weekends
- Fluent in both Japanese and English (spoken and written); additional language skills are a bonus
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience
