Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Java Developer to join our technology team in Japan. In this role, you will develop and maintain critical business applications that support our operations, with a focus on procurement and supply chain management systems. You will work with modern Java technologies and enterprise systems to deliver robust, scalable solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain web applications using Java, Servlet, and JSP technologies
- Develop and optimize database solutions using Oracle (SQL, PL/SQL, performance tuning)
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver solutions
- Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle
- Ensure application security and implement best practices
- Integrate with ERP systems and procurement/purchasing platforms
- Support and enhance existing applications while developing new features
Technical Requirements
Required Skills & Experience
5+ years of professional Java development experience (minimum)
- Strong experience developing web applications using Servlet and JSP
- Proven experience with Oracle database development, including:
- SQL query writing and optimization
- PL/SQL development
- Database performance tuning
- Solid understanding of object-oriented programming principles
- Experience with the full software development lifecycle
Essential Competencies
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Attention to detail and commitment to code quality
- Good communication skills in business level Japanese
Preferred Skills & Experience
Technical Expertise
- Experience with web server infrastructure setup and configuration (e.g., Tomcat)
- Strong knowledge of web application security principles and best practices
- Experience with version control systems (Git) and CI/CD pipeline implementation
- Experience with Agile development methodologies and Scrum frameworks
- Cloud platform experience (AWS, Azure, or GCP) for development and deployment
Business & Systems Knowledge
- Understanding of production management, particularly in procurement and
purchasing domains
Experience integrating with ERP systems (SAP or similar) and
procurement/purchasing systems
- Experience in requirements definition, basic design, and detailed design phases
Language Skills
- English proficiency in reading and writing (required)
- English listening and speaking skills (highly desirable)
- Japanese business proficiency
