l GML based in Tokyo covering capital market legal work of Global Market Division (GMD) on a full time basis
l Reporting functionally to APAC Regional Head GML (based in HK) and hierarchically to Head of GML, Japan (based in Tokyo).
l Drafting/review of legal documents related to capital market (e.g. ISDA/CSA, Japanese law repos, GMRA/GMSLA) through close communication with the relevant internal/external parties
l Liaising with, and managing the use of, external counsel, ensuring that external advisers are duly and appropriately appointed
l Assisting Compliance in providing advice and guidance on local regulations, laws and policies and their impact on the Bank's business
l Provision of advice taking into account the Bank's interests and policies.
l Providing a client driven service in the resolution of legal and regulatory issues, taking into account business needs, and contributing to solutions.
l Keeping abreast of the latest legal, regulatory and case law developments affecting the business of the Bank, informing and educate the business.
l Strategy and business planning for above.
l Complying with the regular reporting requirements to Head of Legal, Japan and where necessary to Regional Head, General Counsel Asia Pacific and Head Office.
