Basic Purpose of the job
1 Scouting for, evaluating, organizing and steering new external collaborations with academia, biotech and CROs
2 Lead/support discussions between partners and Boehringer Ingelheim aiming to successful collaboration management and outcome
3 Actively participate scientific discussions in global EH-RBB and beyond to shape the future discovery research pipeline
4 Strategically expand and maintain networks in life-science community in Japan and South Korea to achieve above objectives
Accountabilities
【コラボレーション機会の探索と評価】
- Scout for, and evaluate external opportunities new science and technology relevant for high medical need indications within Boehringer Ingelheim's partnering scope, covering academia, biotech or CROs.
- Efficiently search and identify scientific hot spots and individual experts for potential collaborations
【プロジェクトマネジャー】
- Responsible for important strategic collaborations as well as the overall research collaborations portfolio which includes the internal/external communication strategy and managing accountability for budgets and milestones/deliverables.
- Negotiate, plan, monitor, steer,and document scientific and budgetary milestones with international partners as well as aligning the strategic fit and value of projects for Boehringer Ingelheim with internal stakeholders.
- Present updates on current and planned partnerships and collaborations at internal decision-making committees

- Actively participate, or lead scientific discussion on external opportunities in global EH&RBB and beyond to shape the future pipeline of Discovery Research of Boehringer Ingelheim.
【社外ネットワーキング、Visibility】
- Work out a strategy to connect the Japanese/Korean scientific environment to Boehringer Ingelheim's research organization, increase Boehringer Ingelheim's visibility and as a part of this activity.
- In addition, be the liaison for the Innovation Unit in Japan.
- Continuously reach external scientists and related stake holders, including academia-industry liaison offices, VCs/investors, governmental sectors etc.
Other regulatory and / or Organizational Requirements
- Knowledge and understanding on Research Ethics and Biosafety
- Understanding of code of practice and related codes for pharmaceutical industories
Required Education
- Degree / Education:Doctoral Degree eg. PhD or MD 博士修了
- Major / Focus:Biology, Chemistry, Pharmacy, Biochemistry or Pharmacology
Required Capabilities (Skills, Experiences, Competencies)
- Several years of experience in drug discovery with proven track record of advancing drug discovery projects through preclinical phases.
Required Skills
- Profound knowledge, ability and experiences to evaluate new state-of-the-art scientific findings appropriately.
- Profound knowledge and experiences in molecular biology and/or biochemistry
- Experiences in non-clinical in vitro and in vivo research activities
- Excellent communication skills with internal and external stakeholders
Language
- Read/Write/Speak Native/Fluent both Japanese and English.
