Position Summary

This role will see you provide regional oversight and management of the small North Asia team, as well as provide specific engineering and technical support through the preparation of project specific designs and supporting technical documentations in Sales bids and Operational projects.

Responsibilities

• Provide support and act as a point of escalation for the regions Applications Engineers

• Work closely with Sales Teams to understand customer needs and develop engineered solutions that are practical to implement, address customer needs and meet required financial metrics

• Support the sales team by attending customer meetings and presenting technology and application overviews

• Provide technical sales training for new and existing technologies

• Provide Engineering advice to the Commercial team on the technical component of bids

• Work closely with the Project Engineering team to develop proposed technical solutions

• Concept development and accuracy of outline engineering for complex sales enquiries relating to conventional and renewable power plants

• Translate technical requirements from RFQ/Tender documents into solutions that meet the customer needs, that are practically implementable

• Support with material specifications and costing inputs for bespoke purchases

• Manage outline engineering and cost input deliverables to respond to RFQs / Tenders

• Support the Engineering and Projects team from concept through to early operations to trouble shoot post installation issues

• Display a commitment to Safety, Operational Excellence and continuous improvement initiatives

What we're looking for

• Demonstrated leadership experience

• Possess a positive change orientation and be a strong influencer and motivator

• Engineering degree qualification. Chartered status would be advantageous.

• Strong experience and high level of knowledge as an applications engineer with a focus on process, electrical, HVAC or temperature control in an industrial environment

• Ideally be full conversant with power generation equipment, Energy Storage systems, Solar PV and associated support infrastructure

• Be able to view situations and conduct yourself in an objective and impartial manner

• Previous experience with direct customer interactions for high value contracts

• Must be culturally sensitive and understand international business protocol

• Be a team player, be action focused and resilient

• Able to travel domestically within Japan and internationally within Asia

• Cross cultural work experience is advantageous

• Fluent Japanese and competent English language skills

• Be able to travel weekly to our Chida depot
