PM/PMO Legacy Modernization

Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for the project management and PMO of legacy modernization projects, ensuring their smooth execution from start to finish.

The key responsibilities include:

  • Laying out a proposal for legacy modernization
  • Analyzing and evaluating current systems to identify areas for improvement
  • Researching and studying various modernization methods
  • Developing a TOBE architecture model that outlines the future state of the system
  • Overseeing system development and testing, ensuring it aligns with the chosen methods and meets quality standards
  • Managing overall project promotion, including cost, schedule, resources, issues, quality, and other critical aspects

Main Clients

The company works with a diverse range of major clients across various industries in Japan, including:

Major beverage manufacturers, telecommunications carriers, automobile companies, electric power companies, insurance companies, trust banks, airline companies, consumer electronics manufacturers, and more.

About the Role

We are looking for experienced professionals who have previously worked on mainframe and project management projects. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals to take on new challenges, increase their market value, and drive large-scale projects forward.

Required Skills

To succeed in this position, you will need:

  • Experience managing large-scale projects, including leadership experience
  • Knowledge of SI development from upstream to downstream, with experience in multiple projects being desirable
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders

Welcome Skills

The following skills are highly valued but not necessarily required:

  • Experience migrating mainframe systems to open platforms through rewriting, rehosting, rebuilding, or other methods
  • Global project experience, including working with foreign companies and people
  • Interest in offshore development or experience in this area
  • Technical expertise in mainframe environments such as COBOL85, PL/I, RPG, JCL, Assembler, RDB, NDB, etc., from vendors like IBM, Fujitsu, Hitachi, Unisys, and others
  • Experience developing, operating, and maintaining programs in one of these mainframe environments
  • Ability to respond to RFIs, RFPs, and other customer requests, providing exceptional customer service and preparing responses

Language and Educational Requirements
