Responsibilities

Bruker Nano Surfaces and Metrology (BNSM) manufactures the world's leading Atomic Forces Microscopes, Stylus profilers, Mechanical Testers, non-contact 3D optical microscope and nano-indenter instruments.

The Service Application Engineer within the BNSM service is an ambassador of BNSM instrumentation and technology.

You will be responsible for customer direct post-sales application and service support and must be customer focused with a strong technical background enabling our customers to utilize their BNSM instruments at full capability and at peak performance for their research.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Install and qualify BNSM standard and specialized instrument, upgrade, and/or accessory including but not limited to:Uncrating instrumentation and interconnection of sub-components and assembliesInstrument start-up and troubleshootingQualification of instrument and accessories using standard and agreed to non-standard samples.
  • Work directly with customers to diagnose BNSM instrument issues including but not limited to:Providing operation training, basic application training and higher-level application trainingDiagnose, research, test, develop, optimize, communicate, and execute the most efficient solution plan for complex electro mechanical hardware/software instrument issues.Create and maintain record of activity in support database
  • Preventative maintenance on BNSM instrumentation which can include but not limited to:Basic maintenance and calibration of instrument and accessoriesRe-certification of system using both standard and non-standard samples.
  • Providing our value including service contract and upgrade for the customersRapid response to the customer through Customer Care Center activitiesSolution advisor based on professional technical skills and soft skillsPromoting service contract and upgrade of instruments to utilize their BNSM instruments at full capability and at peak performance.

    • Qualifications

    To be successful in this position, you will possess the following:

  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Proven excellent analytical capability, theoretical understanding of Surface Analysis and Tribology, experience of atomic microscope / nano-indenter, working knowledge of electronics and mechanics, computers, and common tooling such as oscilloscope, multi-meter, etc... to be an effective problem solver of complex system, product user, and/or application issues.
  • Proven ability to install, qualify and be an application trainer and technical resource that empowers our customers in the use of complex electro-mechanical instrumentation and application modules.
  • Proven ability to experiment, trouble shooting, optimize, and develop best practice for support.
  • Proven ability to provide clear, logical, and effective communication with customer.
  • Educational/Experience Requirements:
  • Minimum of Doctorate degree, PhD, in scientific or engineering field from accredited university or college
  • Or Master's degree in scientific or engineering field from accredited university or college with 3 year relevant experience,
  • Or Bachelor's degree in scientific or engineering field from accredited university or college with 5 year relevant experience
