Business Overview


The Rakuten Group offers over 70 services in Japan and overseas across a wide range of fields, including internet services such as e-commerce, travel, and digital content, credit cards, fintech (financial) services such as banking, securities, electronic money, and smartphone app payments, mobile services such as mobile carrier operations and even professional sports.

By organically linking these services through membership, centered on Rakuten members, we have formed a unique "Rakuten Ecosystem."

Since its founding in 1997, Rakuten has expanded its business scale centered on its shopping mall business, Rakuten Ichiba, and credit card business, Rakuten Card.

We have also successfully launched a new telecommunications business, Rakuten Mobile. Based on these three pillars, Rakuten has grown to ¥2.3 trillion in group revenue by fiscal year 2024.


We believe that the expansion and growth of our advertising business will become a fourth pillar of our key business areas that will drive the Group's future growth.


In addition to our existing businesses, including our internet advertising business, "Rakuten Marketing/LinkShare", marketing research business, "Rakuten Insight", and marketing solutions business, "Rakuten Data Marketing", we have a vision to create new business models by leveraging synergies with the "Rakuten Ecosystem," leveraging all of our advertising business assets, including our 70+ services, "Rakuten Membership", "Rakuten Points", "brand power", and "member data", to contribute as an unrivaled marketing partner to our clients.

Position Details

Planning and Development of

New Advertising Products:
Conceive and implement new media and ad products from scratch, accurately grasping market and customer needs.
Promotion of Partnerships and M&A with Domestic and

International Platformers:
Explore and execute strategic alliances and M&A with major platformers and technology partners.
Formulation of Growth Strategies and Pivoting for

Existing Products:
Analyze challenges in existing services and lead the redefinition of businesses or their transformation into new directions.

End-to-End Responsibility from Business Plan Formulation to Promotion:Broad involvement from research, business model design, and proof-of-concept to service launch and monetization.

Collaboration with Management and Internal/

External Stakeholders:
Lead resource procurement and team formation necessary for business growth.

Mandatory Qualifications

Practical experience in advertising and marketing (3+years)
Experience in launching/renewing new businesses or products
Practical experience in alliances and M&A with domestic and international partners
Skills in developing business plans and revenue models based on market analysis
Strong project management and communication skills
Practical experience working in English
