Fleet Technician is responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing a fleet of Purpose Built Vehicles. This role requires expertise in both base vehicle systems (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic) and autonomous vehicle technologies (sensors, cameras, computer systems). The technician will work closely with engineering, operations, and technical teams to ensure optimal performance, safety, and reliability of the AV fleet.
- Conduct routine inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on a wide range of vehicles, including cars, vans equipped with ADAS components.
- Perform scheduled servicing and maintenance tasks to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the fleet.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and technical issues using advanced diagnostic equipment.
- Reacting to faults with our fleet and implementing repairs in a timely manner
- Recording and reporting of faults found and the resolution to those issues
- Working with the drivers of our fleet to ensure faults they experience or concerns they have are addressed
- Carry out repairs on a variety of vehicle components.
- Ensuring the fleet is kept in a presentable condition for use in high profile demonstrations to investors and media.
- Adhere to health and safety standards.
About you
In order to set you up for success as a Fleet Servicing & Maintenance Technician/Mechanic at TaskUs Outsourcing Japan, we're looking for the following skills and experience.
Essential
- Successfully completed technical training, i.e. as a Vehicle-Mechatronic, Automotive Mechatronics Technician, (Level 2 Automotive Technician > JAP equivalent)
- Strong experience using diagnostic machines to identify and repair mechanical issues
- Familiar with repairing vehicles from an OEM's repair manual, covering component and bodywork repairs
- Safe working ethic and familiarity with Risk assessments, Safe Systems of Work and OSHA
- Strong customer facing communication skills to help with fault diagnosis
- Computer literate and able to use programmes such as word and excel for tracking work done on vehicles
- Full clean Japan driving licence
- At least 2 years' driving experience mainly in Japan
- No blameworthy insurance claims in the past three years
- Strong driving skills and knowledge and willingness to continue developing

Shift Pattern - Schedule issued 4 weeks in advance.
Monday to Sunday - 40 hours per week/weekend (must be able to work weekends)

This role is based onsite at our office at Shin-Yokohama.
