What you'll Be DoingDesign the firmware architecture for a new product
Take the product from concept to a fully scalable commercial product
Collaborate on designing and building test jigs
Develop, debug, and optimise firmware on Zephyr RTOS and embedded Linux
Write clean, maintainable code
Work closely with a playful, research-focused team
Help build our first CI/CD pipeline
Contribute to decisions on the tech stack
Try your hand at a number of other tasks inherent in being a startup
Report to the Director of Engineering while working directly with the CTO and CEO to bring the product vision to life
Your Experience
5+ years of professional experience in embedded systems development
Strong proficiency in Embedded C
Hands-on experience with Zephyr RTOS, and embedded Linux
Integrating external peripherals (e.g. displays, serial memories, NAND flash, I²C, SPI, UART, ADC, PWM)
Skilled in creating a suitable firmware architecture, coding standards, algorithm analysis, and code optimisation for resource-constrained processors
Familiar with Yocto and custom Linux distribution builds
Capable of reading schematics and datasheets, with strong documentation skills
Proficient in Git, Jira, Bitbucket, or similar tools
Experienced in software testing (unit, regression, and system testing) and preparing functional specifications and test plans
Demonstrated ability to build scalable, maintainable firmware systems
Experience with CI/CD pipelines, DFM/DFT practices
Communication
Fluent in English required
Keep diligent notes and share ideas quickly and efficiently
Bonus Points if:
You have experience working in the metal 3D printing industry
Japanese communication skills
Scripting and automation experience with Python, bash or similar languages is a strong plus
Experienced in firmware porting, code migration
Proficient in device trees, Linux kernel, bootloaders, device drivers, BSPs, and UI frameworks such as Qt and Crank
Experience with OTA updates
Experience working with open source communities to fix bugs, add features is a plus

Usually Monday - Friday 8:30 - 17:30 workday (flex time possible)
