We collaborate with diverse business units including Commerce & Marketing Company, Fintech, and Mobile to strengthen generative AI platforms for all Rakuten employees, external AI solution products, and intermediary systems that enable internal developers to utilize LLMs safely and effectively.

Within AI4B, our GTM Section (Go-To-Market) serves as the bridge between technology and business, with the mission to evolve products and accelerate their market penetration.

Why We Hire

As a Project Manager leading the development and deployment of next-generation generative AI products at Rakuten, you will play a pivotal role in bridging technical teams and business units in cutting-edge AI-powered product development.

Your primary responsibilities include overseeing generative AI product development projects, collecting and analyzing business unit requirements and sharing them with development teams, responding to technical inquiries and proposing business applications for the latest AI technologies, and coordinating communications with stakeholders including executive leadership.

We require expertise and hands-on experience in both AI and project management, effective communication abilities with technical teams, and proven experience leading new technology adoption within organizations.

We seek candidates with strategic thinking capabilities who can handle projects from conception to execution.

Position Details

Work closely with business subject matter experts and organization leaders to identify high-potential, innovative and impactful Generative AI use cases
Perform detailed analysis, prioritization, and horizontal deployment promotion of use cases
Utilize advanced project management tools including GitHub Enterprise and AI-powered automation and integrations to create smooth workflows and maintain clear sources of truth for product, engineering, and management teams across platforms
Coordinate with technical teams to define and execute rapid prototypes and proof-of-concepts for Generative AI applications, then lead planning and execution to scale successful experiments into robust, production-ready AI solutions
Communicate effectively with stakeholders, keeping them updated on project progress and ensuring seamless integration of requirements into development processes
Create and maintain high-quality project documentation and thought leadership materials for Generative AI initiatives to engage internal and external stakeholders
Coach and mentor Scrum teams while leading stand-up meetings, sprint planning, strategic planning sessions, and project reviews to foster continuous improvement and ensure quality standards are met

Mandatory Qualifications

3+ years of experience in project management with strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with technical and non-technical teams
Proficient in Agile development methodologies and advanced project management tools including JIRA, Confluence, and GitHub Enterprise
Experience leveraging AI and automation tools to enhance project management processes, integrations, and team coordination
A strong passion for leveraging technology to address real-world challenges and make a meaningful societal impact
Fluent Japanese and business-level English proficiency

Desired Qualifications

Experience measuring and reporting on project ROI and productivity improvements
Experience driving and delivering complex technology programs or AI-driven products from inception to delivery with proven expertise in Generative AI or AI engineering projects
Experience collaborating with fast-paced software engineering teams and familiarity with CI/CD processes, DevOps practices, and agile development workflows
Experience in setting strategic direction and uncovering new opportunities for impact within large organizations
