PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Enterprise Architect is responsible for defining, maintaining, and evolving the company's overall IT architecture to ensure alignment with business objectives and long-term IT transformation goals. This role provides strategic direction across applications, infrastructure, and security, ensuring technology investments deliver maximum business value and operational efficiency.
A key part of this role is collaborating closely with the Global Enterprise Architecture team to ensure local alignment with global architecture standards, frameworks, and technology strategies. The Enterprise Architect acts as a bridge between business and IT, guiding technology decisions to support scalability, agility, and innovation in a fast-changing retail environment.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Technology Strategy & Roadmap
- Develop and maintain the enterprise architecture blueprint aligned with business strategy and retail operations.
- Define technology standards, principles, and best practices across applications, data, infrastructure, and security with global team.
- Support the CIO and IT leadership in developing long-term IT strategy and investment planning.
Architecture Governance & Portfolio Management
- Oversee architecture governance processes to ensure consistency, compliance, and cost-effectiveness across the IT portfolio.
- Evaluate new technologies and vendors, balancing innovation with stability and cost optimization.
- Manage dependencies and integration across core retail systems (POS, ERP, CRM, eCommerce).
Global Collaboration
- Work closely with the Global Enterprise Architecture team to align local architecture initiatives with global principles, roadmaps, and governance frameworks.
- Share local business and technical insights to influence global technology direction.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with business leaders to translate strategic priorities into technology initiatives.
- Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and security teams to design cohesive and secure solutions.
Transformation & Innovation
- Drive modernization initiatives such as AI, cloud migration, API integration, and data-driven capabilities.
- Identify emerging technologies relevant to retail and evaluate their applicability.
REQUIREMENTS
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field.
- 10+ years of progressive IT leadership experience, including experience as CIO, Head of IT, or equivalent senior technology leadership role.
- Demonstrated success in enterprise-scale transformation programs within a global or regional retail or consumer business environment.
- Proven experience working within a matrixed, multinational organization, balancing global governance with local execution.
Technical & Strategic Competencies
- Deep understanding of enterprise architecture principles (TOGAF or equivalent) and their practical application in complex environments.
- Strong grasp of IT governance, technology portfolio management, and digital transformation methodologies.
- High-level understanding across applications, infrastructure, security, and data management domains.
- Experience with modern technology platforms (Cloud, Data, Integration, AI/Analytics, ERP/CRM).
Leadership & Soft Skills
- Strategic thinker with the ability to influence executive stakeholders and drive cross-functional alignment.
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, capable of engaging both technical and business audiences.
- Proven ability to lead through influence rather than authority, fostering collaboration across global teams.
- Demonstrated success in developing IT strategies that deliver measurable business value.
Certifications (Preferred)
- TOGAF, Certified Architect (AWS/Azure/GCP), or equivalent executive-level certifications are desirable.
