About the Job:

This position focuses on product-related tasks at the sub-system and component levels for current and upcoming products within a specific business unit or corporate sector. The role involves contributing throughout various stages in the product life cycle. Due to its product-centric nature, this role often serves as a key point of coordination and decision-making among product line engineers, customer teams, systems engineers, purchasing, suppliers, and manufacturing.

  • Engages with stakeholders like technical managers, project leaders, other product and manufacturing engineers, and supplier partners to provide insights and recommendations that drive quality product outcomes.
  • Utilizes academic knowledge and previous experience to proactively take steps and make decisions that advance projects while upholding quality standards. This includes daily project tasks, analytical work, coordinating across disciplines, and ensuring progress meets quality benchmarks.
  • Applies and enhances processes like Engineering Standard Work (ESW), iDFMEA, Failure Incident Review Group (FIRG), and tools like 7-step problem-solving and design review checklists to facilitate high-quality decision-making.
  • Takes independent leadership of smaller projects with business impact or assumes responsibility for complex components, products, systems, or services with more ambiguity than senior engineers, holding full accountability for the project team.
  • Executes established and emerging work processes and systems independently, while also expanding technology and product expertise.
  • Drives the development and enhancement of work processes and systems within a specific functional discipline in a business unit location.
  • Coordinates and supervises the work of technicians and temporary student workers, aiding in knowledge transfer to less experienced engineers either indirectly or through direct management of a small group.
  • Offers support and direction to shape technical decisions within a project team, continuously improving skills necessary for success in the role.
  • Serves as a recognized expert in a specific discipline or product area within the immediate team.
