The vision of the Conversational Experiences Department (CXD) is to change the world's view of what is possible with AI by creating incredible experiences that 'just work'. We propose, design, and build AI experiences that bring joy and value to Rakuten businesses, and our mission is to bring these experiences to the world. We build Conversational AI products such as chatbots, voice assistants, and semantic search. We have been employing Large Language Model (LLM) technology for several years, and are on the cutting edge of Japanese language solutions.

Our mission is to actualize 'shopping is entertainment' and maximize the value of Rakuten ecosystem through the delivery of super personal assistants.

Why We Hire

We are looking for a visionary Senior/Lead Product Manager who thrives in startup-like environments and is adept at building first-version (V1) products from the ground up. This role requires a proactive leader who can identify and deeply understand customer pain points, measure their impact, and devise simple yet effective solutions to complex challenges. The ideal candidate will be driven to aim big, tackle significant problems, and revolutionize our approach with a next-generation customer communication as a service (CCaaS) product.

Responsibilities
- Spearhead the development of V1 products, starting from concept creation through to market launch, with an emphasis on simplicity and effectiveness in solving complex problems.
- Rigorously measure and evaluate customer pain points to guide product development, ensuring solutions deliver substantial impact.
- Break away from traditional legacy systems to develop innovative, scalable solutions that push the boundaries of technology, particularly in the realm of Generative AI.
- Maintain a dynamic approach to changing product scopes and requirements, exemplifying agility and responsiveness in all project management aspects.
- Foster a culture of ambition and innovation within the team, encouraging a focus on tackling significant, transformative projects.
- Build and sustain strong relationships with all stakeholders, including customers, business units, and technical teams, ensuring collaborative and unified product development efforts.
 

Mandatory Qualifications:

- Fluent in both Japanese and English, with exceptional communication skills across diverse, multinational environments.
- Minimum 6 years of experience of technical background, with a proven track record of addressing customer needs and delivering impactful technological solutions.
- Extensive experience in product management, particularly in building, launching, and scaling V1 products in technology-driven enterprises.
- Demonstrated ability to think big, with a passion for solving substantial problems through innovative technological solutions.
- Strong leadership capabilities, able to inspire and manage teams in a fast-paced and ever-evolving environment.
 

Desired Qualifications:

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

- Experienced in disrupting markets with innovative products, especially in communication technologies or AI-driven applications.

- A history of developing products that significantly improve user experiences and solve critical market challenges.
