The Department of Plant and Environmental Sciences at Clemson University invites applications for a full-time Postdoctoral Scholar to join the Weed Ecology & Management research program led by Dr.

Fernando H. Oreja.

The successful candidate will conduct field, greenhouse, and laboratory research focused on weed population dynamics, seedbank ecology, and integrated weed management strategies in major South Carolina cropping systems (corn, soybean, wheat, cover crops, and pasture phases).

Responsibilities Design, implement, and analyze field, greenhouse, and laboratory experiments on weed ecology and management. Collect and manage datasets related to seedbank dynamics, seedling emergence, herbicide resistance, demographic modeling, and crop weed interactions. Contribute to manuscripts for peer reviewed journals and present results at national and international scientific conferences. Mentor graduate and undergraduate researchers, participate in collaborative field efforts, and help coordinate multi location trials. Assist with grant proposal development. Engage with Extension personnel, stakeholders, and collaborating scientists as needed. Work after hours or on weekends when necessary for time sensitive field operations. Show strong commitment to research integrity, data quality, and timely experiment execution. Minimum Qualifications Ph.
D.

in Weed Science, Agronomy, Ecology, Plant Biology, Crop Science, or a closely related discipline completed before start date Demonstrated experience with field research, experimental design, and statistical analysis.

Strong writing and communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary research team. A valid driver's license or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of start date. Preferred Qualifications Basic knowledge of herbicides and basic agronomic crop management decisions. Experience with seedbank ecology, herbicide resistance, weed population dynamics, or demographic modeling. Experience supervising students or technicians. Familiarity with R, Python, SAS, or similar statistical tools. Experience operating small field equipment sprayers, plot seeders, drones, etc. is a plus but not required.
