Department Overview

Features and Strengths:

With the strength of the Rakuten Point market, which has surpassed 3 trillion yen in total issuance, we are building the "Rakuten Economic Circle" through service collaboration with Rakuten Group companies and the introduction of cashless settlement services in real stores, which are growing at an accelerated pace. Our settlement services can be used at approximately 5 million online and offline locations, including supermarkets, convenience stores, and shopping malls nationwide, as well as at approximately 1 million locations where traffic-related e-money can be used. The number of locations where this service can be used is continuing to expand.

The System Division handles everything from system service planning related to payment services, planning and implementation related to UI/UX, basic and detailed system design, coding, testing, and operation. As the service expands, you will be able to experience the planning, development, and operation of a very large-scale system. In addition, you will be able to improve our services by directly listening to the voices of our customers.

Mission:

You will be responsible for the development and operation of new functions for the backend system related to Point Partner Business (Rakuten point cards). You will plan and develop the ideal form of the system while communicating closely with the business department. As the number of merchants and users is increasing year by year, maintaining stable operations as a payment infrastructure that can be used at any time is also an important mission.

Position Details

Work Scope and Responsibilities:

Requirements definition, design, development, testing, and operation of developed systems in the Point Partner Business

Responsible for application construction and operation, in collaboration with the infrastructure department

Implementing new functionalities / migrating systems to a new infrastructure / End Of Life

Improve development and operation processes with best practices

Collaborate with business teams to create new revenue-generating services

Stakeholder and Business Process:

Work closely with stakeholders in the business and development departments to define requirements and design systems

English Usage:

Most the team members are Japanese speakers, but there are also some English speakers. Both Japanese and English are used in meetings.

Mandatory Qualifications:

5+ years software engineering experience

Problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills

Desired Qualifications:

Software engineering ability including project management, specification, and quality assurance

Software maintenance and system operation experience in the industrial field

Application development experience with Web application frameworks such as Spring Boot

Application development experience with Java 11 or later

Process improvement experience with build tool and CI/CD tool

Development relational database Experience including data modeling

Basic knowledge about Linux and networks for using other software effectively

Application development experience on Docker/Kubernetes
