Our client is a global insurance and reinsurance broker with a strong footprint in Japan and an international operating model. The Japan business works closely with regional and global teams to support Japanese clients, combining local market understanding with cross-border delivery capability.
About the Role
This is a Junior Actuary position within a small Life actuarial team. You'll support reinsurance-related actuarial work (analytics, modelling support, and client materials), gaining hands-on exposure while working alongside experienced actuaries. The role is suitable for someone early in their actuarial/quantitative career, including those still in training.
Key Responsibilities
- Support actuarial analysis for life reinsurance work, including basic modelling, assumption setting support, and output validation.
- Assist with experience studies, data checks, reconciliations, and preparation of technical summaries.
- Prepare Japanese client-facing reports and presentation materials with clear, accurate messaging.
- Coordinate deliverables with internal stakeholders and global support teams to meet timelines and quality standards.
- Maintain and improve templates/spreadsheets and contribute to process improvements to reduce operational risk.
Who We're Looking For
- Early-career candidate (typically 0-3 years experience) from actuarial, insurance analytics, underwriting support, risk, finance, or another quantitative function.
- Native-level Japanese is essential due to Japanese client communication and deliverables.
- Strong numerical accuracy, logical thinking, and solid Excel capability (structured modelling, checks, clean outputs).
- Actuarial exam progress or clear interest in pursuing actuarial development is a plus, but registration is not required for this junior seat.
- English can be flexible if there is motivation and potential to improve in an international environment.
