About the Recruitment Department

The Engineering Department at the Hikari Plant (Yamaguchi Prefecture) is responsible for owner's engineering work on equipment-related matters (buildings, machinery, air conditioning, piping, electricity, instrumentation) for pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities and supports the entire lifecycle of all equipment at the plant.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Hear requirements from stakeholders, conduct F/S and FEED of drug substance/bio manufacturing equipment, formulation/packaging, manufacturing support equipment, utilities, and sustainable equipment with engineering companies, etc., and compile equipment plans as project lead. For small-scale projects, basic design is conducted independently.
  • When the investment plan is approved, EPC will be conducted through competitive bidding, and commissioning and qualification will be carried out, with the process after PQ being handed over to site technology/production and maintenance departments.
  • Develop site strategies by formulating and managing medium- to long-term plans for production equipment, utilities, and sustainability-related equipment.
  • Understand quality assurance operations, prepare and review necessary documents, check guidance from regional authorities and global engineering organizations, and evaluate existing equipment.

Requirements:

  • Degree in mechanical engineering, architectural engineering, or electrical/electronic engineering, or equivalent knowledge.
  • Technical knowledge of production machinery and equipment, chemical/biotech plant equipment, electricity, electrical controls, automation systems, logistics equipment/systems, clean room equipment, etc.
  • 10 years of experience in design and maintenance in pharmaceutical manufacturing or other manufacturing industries.

Desirable Experience and Qualifications:

  • Experience in the following tasks or equivalent. Knowledge of the Pharmaceutical Affairs Law, GMP, GLP, HACCP, and other regulations.
  • Experience in planning, designing, coordinating, and construction projects for manufacturing/packaging facilities, other production facilities, mechanical field of building facilities, or instrumentation/control/electrical field of facilities in pharmaceutical, cosmetics, food industry, etc., or engineering work in bulk plant construction projects, or facility maintenance/management.
  • Basic communication skills and the ability to read and write in English.
