Q1: What kind of work have you been involved in up to now?
Since joining the company a year and a half ago, I have been engaged in new business development across multiple overseas markets, primarily in solar power, onshore wind, and battery storage. My responsibilities include conducting due diligence and evaluating the feasibility of projects developed by other companies, as well as participating in joint development efforts with partners after joining the projects. I have been deeply involved as a project manager throughout these processes.
Currently, I am mainly in charge of projects in the U.S. market. All the markets I've worked in are new to our company, and internal expertise is often limited. However, I enjoy the process of tackling each challenge step by step—working closely with internal team members, business partners, and external advisors to resolve issues through daily discussions.
Q2: Why did you choose Renova?
I joined RENOVA as my third company, following experience in overseas IPP projects at a major Japanese corporation and offshore wind projects at a foreign-affiliated company in Japan. Although I've remained within the power (IPP) industry, my most recent career move was driven by a desire to work in an environment that allows for flexible business development strategies aligned with changing market conditions, and where opportunities are not limited by age or experience. Through interviews and discussions, I felt RENOVA matched these criteria, which led me to join the company.
These priorities stem from my previous experiences—such as the limitations of only being involved in pre-assigned projects at a foreign-affiliated company, and the seniority-based work assignments at a major Japanese firm.
In terms of job content, I wanted to lead overseas business development projects through to the construction and operational phases. RENOVA's commitment to expanding its international business was another key reason I chose to join.
Q3: What are the characteristics of RENOVA? (Good points, things you are proud of, things you are satisfied with, etc.)
One of RENOVA's defining characteristics is the strong collaborative spirit among internal members to realize projects. I feel that departmental boundaries are refreshingly low, which fosters teamwork.
In specialized departments such as finance, legal, engineering, and procurement, many members have extensive experience in their respective fields. As someone in the development division, which often requires a more generalist approach, I have many opportunities to learn from them on a daily basis.
The reasons I chose RENOVA—its flexible business development strategy and the opportunity to thrive regardless of age or experience—have proven to be true in practice.
Within just one year of joining, I've been involved in evaluating projects in three different countries. In markets where future prospects were unclear, we made timely decisions to withdraw, while in promising projects, I negotiated with external partners while simultaneously discussing participation strategies with senior management. These experiences have given me a strong sense of momentum and agility.
Despite being in my early 30s and having less than a year of tenure, I've had the opportunity to present as a project lead at executive meetings and negotiate directly with external partners. These responsibilities have allowed me to grow professionally and personally through my daily work.
