Strategic Finance improves financial and operational decision-making across Block. Work from anywhere: This role can be performed from any location in Japan.
You Will
- Report the financial planning process for important products and teams; including building/maintaining and reviewing operating and financial models.
- Be the primary Finance Business Partner (FBP) with key teams within our Square organization and collaborate across all levels and departments in the organization
- Support strategic decisions, including projects on pricing design, customer behavior analysis and economics, LTV / Return on investment of marketing efforts, market/competitive landscape benchmarking, and other data-driven analysis
- Create and/or review analyses that facilitates clear decision-making, mine data from our databases to predict short-term and long-term trends
- Evaluate our performance; report the performance; identify any risks or opportunities associated with reported financial data
- Partner with our Go-to-Market teams (Sales, Marketing, Partnerships etc) on strategy and execution with the aim of increasing the size and efficiency of our acquisition motions.
- Partner with the International Accounting team on transactional and financial close matters to ensure accuracy over financial statement reporting
- Partner with departments (e.g. Accounting, Business Intelligence and Data Analytics, Sales and Marketing, and others) to report on the financial impact of decisions across the company
- Prepare analysis and support communication to product leaders, board members and executive staff
You Have
- 10+ years post qualified and relevant industry experience
- A finance qualification or relevant working experience within strategy finance
- Fluency in both Japanese and English
- Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
- Proven ability to lead strategic projects and make data-driven recommendations
- Proactively develop and implement financial strategies to support the growth plans
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines
- Strong financial background; deep expertise in financial modelling and analysis and Excel (there will be a case study)
- Experience with SQL / Hyperion
