Responsibilities

Report to: Head of Finance (CFO) in Japan

Accounting & Reporting:

• Ensure accurate, transparent accounting and timely financial reporting; support audits, tax management, and payroll.

• Maintain integrated operations across processes, systems, and controls.

Accounting – Bookkeeping:

• Manage fixed assets, accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, petty cash, and tax accounts.

• Maintain general ledger consistency and timely reporting to authorities.

Accounting – Period Closing:

• Oversee monthly/annual closings, including accruals, deferrals, depreciation, and intercompany reconciliations.

• Prepare statutory financial statements and review reports for accuracy.

Internal Control Management:

• Ensure compliance with regulations and internal policies; implement procedures per global/regional guidelines.

• Support management in verifying controls and promoting adherence to policies.

Optimization & Productivity:

• Drive efficiency and process improvements while maintaining quality.

• Utilize tools and systems to streamline workflows.

People Management:

• Support team growth, set clear targets, conduct reviews, and maintain performance-linked compensation.

• Foster engagement, collaboration, and a high-performing culture.

Project Management:

• Lead or support accounting projects, including system implementations and process improvements.

Qualifications

• Holds a relevant accounting qualification (Certified Management Accountant)

• 5+ years of relevant accounting experience

• Fluent English communication on speaking, writing and listening

• Strong knowledge in Japan Tax legislation, local GAAP and IFRS

• Mandatory SAP (FI, CO, COPA and BI) and ideally HFM user knowledge

• A structured and well-organized individual

• Result and performance oriented

• Ability to communicate effectively with internal customers, cross functional teams and global

technical teams

• Self-motivated, self-directed, flexible and be able to work under pressure in a fast-paced team

environment

Salary

Company will consider candidates up to
14M JPY
for annual salary (client may consider higher salary based on candidate skills and experience).
