The Team

The Asia equities quantitative/on-desk technology team develops systems that streamline desk processes and offer data insights to enhance the efficiency of sales and traders.

The team was established recently, with several modules yet to be developed. This presents a unique opportunity for individuals to work independently, show initiative, and showcase creativity. Additionally, given the adaptable work environment with minimal bureaucracy, team members can concentrate on creating valuable components and readily assess the impact of their contributions.

The primary users of the systems are equities traders and sales-traders, mainly situated in Asia.

Ongoing and past projects within the team encompass activities such as content aggregation, IOIs, RFQs, program trading/index rebalances, pre/post-trade tasks, and trading analytics.

Main technologies utilized include:

  • Java (with Spring/JPA)
  • Web (HTML, CSS, Angular TypeScript)
  • SQL databases (MySQL, SQL Server)
  • Infrastructure: Linux (experience with Docker or AWS is advantageous)
  • DevOps: Atlassian suite

    • The Position

    Preferably situated in Hong Kong, the new team member will directly report to the team manager based in Japan.

    Responsibilities of the new hire will involve:

  • Identifying, defining, and discussing functional requirements with front-office users
  • Designing both functional and technical solutions to meet these requirements
  • Collaborating with the team to review and autonomously implement solutions
  • Overseeing and managing the system
  • Training and assisting users

    • Requirements

  • Minimum years of relevant experience, including at least one front-office role
  • Capability to work independently
  • Quickness in learning and effective problem-solving abilities
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficiency in business English
  • Understanding of sell-side equity cash markets and business operations
  • Competence in at least one programming language (Java, C++, C, etc.) – Java is highly preferred
  • Experience with SQL databases
  • Infrastructure: Linux experience preferred, knowledge of Docker and/or AWS beneficial but not mandatory
  • Familiarity with web technologies (HTML, JavaScript/TypeScript, Angular+) advantageous but not obligatory
