The Opportunity
As a Sr Software Developer for Ship Repair Facility and Japan Regional Maintenance Center (SRF-JRMC), you will work with SRF-JRMC to build high-reliability business applications within DoD cloud environments.
Your advanced skills in developing containerized, cloud-ready systems in a DevSecOps environment will directly impact the successful migration of legacy SRF-JRMC mission applications.
The duration of the position will be 12 months.Responsibilities
Reverse engineer legacy web applications into functional and technical requirements. Design and build reliable, containerized, cloud-ready web applications from development backlog in a DoD DevSecOps environment with minimal supervision. Design and build engaging, responsive user interfaces (UI) with modern JavaScript frameworks, especially React. Design and build application programming interfaces (APIs) for systems integration following best practices for data throughput and security. Support DevSecOps deployment pipeline and cloud systems engineering. Develop software integrations with other databases and various data sources used by the command and U.S. Navy, such as M365 SharePoint Online and DAF Platform One. Meet with customers and stakeholders to gather requirements, mitigate roadblocks, and provide status reports.
Work will be performed on-site in Yokosuka, Japan.
Required
Must be a U.S. Citizen. Must have the ability to obtain a DoD Interim Secret security clearance and subsequent final DoD Secret security clearance.
Skills
Minimum 4 years of continuous experience in an active, professional software development role demonstrating knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following:
Building and deploying applications in either Microsoft Azure or AWS clouds.
Building UI components with React or similar JavaScript framework.
Building automated deployment pipelines using Python.
Building APIs using React.
JS, Node.
JS, and Python-based frameworks.
Desired
Active DoD Secret security clearance. Previous experience in a DoD DevSecOps environment. Bachelor's and/or advanced degree in Data Science, Computer Science, or other related technical fields. Previous military service or previous work experience at a Naval Shipyard.
