Our Summer Internship Program is an 8-week (June 15 – August 7, 2026) internship designed to provide you with an exciting, supportive and fun experience which mirrors life as an Analyst at BlackRock.
You'll have real-world responsibilities during the summer, in addition to participating in professional development, networking and social events.The Summer Internship Program acts as a feeder to the 2027 Full-Time Graduate Analyst Program.
About Aladdin Financial Engineering Group (AFE)
Aladdin is an operating system for investment managers that seeks to connect the information, people, and technology needed to manage money in real time.
The Aladdin platform combines risk analytics with portfolio management, trading, compliance, and investment operations tools on a single platform to power informed decision-making, effective risk management, efficient trading, and operational scale.
Aladdin is used by a community of over 200 institutional clients around the world, including BlackRock. There are over 100,000 end users of Aladdin globally.The team is comprised of 1500+ professionals responsible for implementing and supporting our Aladdin clients, sales and marketing, and ensuring the Aladdin Community maximizes Aladdin products through engagement and education.
AFE is a global team with a keen interest and expertise in all things related to technology and financial analytics.
The group is responsible for the research and development of quantitative financial and behavioral models and tools across many different areas – single-security pricing, prepayment models, risk, return attribution, liquidity, optimization and portfolio construction, scenario analysis and simulations, etc.
– and covering all asset classes.The group is also responsible for the technology platform that delivers those models to our internal partners and external clients, and their integration with Aladdin.
As an Intern, you will:
Gain an understanding of analytics, markets, and Aladdin's capabilities
Utilize analytical models, reports and large scale data processing tools to help investment teams and clients manage their portfolio risk, exposure and performance
Perform special analyses in response to market events, new business opportunities and client needs
Contribute to the creation, testing and roll out of financial models, analytics and reporting for new security types and products
Improve operational efficiencies to enable scalable business growth
Work with technology and analytics groups to build and deliver scalable customized solutions using Aladdin APIs and the Aladdin Data Sciences platform
Demonstrate analytical and infrastructure understanding by articulating product requirements document, participate in technical architecture discussions and win mandates to deliver commercially viable mandates.
Perform independent analytical validations by scenarios driven testing, large scale validations and presenting the results for review with stakeholders assuring higher standards in quality.
Understand rapidly evolve markets & stakeholder needs to influence analytics roadmap, interlinked with dependencies across Aladdin ecosystem.Work on automating repetitive processes increasing efficiency and throughput of overall team.
Utilize advanced analytics and communication skills to collaborate with BlackRock's clients, portfolio & risk managers and articulate clear financial modelling specifications.
What capabilities are we looking for?The desire to have a deep understanding of analytics and our clients, applying technology to solve real business needs
Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey sophisticated concepts simply and clearly to clients
The ability to face off to external clients with good coordination skills, balancing multiple priorities simultaneously
The ability to thrive under pressure and enjoy a fast-paced environment, as well as set and meet tight deadlines
Strong fundamental understanding of technology and financial analytics
Some experience in software engineering/development (e.g., Python, Java, R, SQL, Unix), is a plus, however a desire to learn and improve technical abilities is a must
Deep understanding of analytics and financial models like risk methodology, factor models.
Detail-oriented, organized, and committed while leading multiple projects
Pro-activeness, ability to multi-task, prioritize, set and meet deadlines, and strong attention to detail
Knowledge of finance, econometrics, statistical analysis, or advanced math
English and Japanese language proficiency is a requirement
