Key Responsibilities

  • License Infrastructure Administration:
    Oversee the installation, configuration, maintenance, and high availability of global EDA (Electronic Design Automation) license servers, primarily using technologies like FlexNet (FlexLM). This includes managing server upgrades, failover mechanisms, and promptly responding to outages to minimize downtime for engineering teams.
  • License Monitoring & Optimization:
    Continuously monitor license checkout activity using specialized tools to identify usage trends, bottlenecks, and opportunities for efficiency, such as recovering idle licenses. Use of the native flexlm license option using the "options files". Good to have knowledge about the industry std tools such as FlexNet Manager/Team EDA etc.
  • Capacity Planning & Scaling:
    Forecast future license demand based on engineering project needs and plan for capacity expansions or reallocations, ensuring that license availability aligns with project schedules and growth.
  • System Administration:
    Provide hands-on administration for the high-performance Linux environments where EDA tools run (RHEL/SUSE/Ubuntu) and managing file systems (NFS). Possess the strong linux OS trouble shooting skills.
  • Support & Incident Management:
    Serve as the top-tier support for license-related issues, troubleshooting problems (e.g., checkout denials) and resolving support tickets promptly.
  • HPC Integration:
    Integrate license management with High-Performance Computing (HPC) schedulers like IBM LSF or Slurm to manage job scheduling and resource allocation, well versed with licenses aware job scheduling setup.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

  • 5-8+ years of relevant experience in EDA license management or a closely related domain within a semiconductor design environment.
  • Expert-level knowledge of Flexera FlexNet (FlexLM) and a deep understanding of licensing for major EDA tools. Strong Linux system administration skills are also essential.
  • Ability to develop and maintain scripts (Python, Perl, Bash) to automate routine license management and system administration tasks, such as generating custom reports or deploying new license files.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills to coordinate with both technical engineers and external vendors.
  • Fluent in both Japanese (JLPT N2+) and English (TOEIC 750+)
