【Reason for Hiring】
We are seeking a high-performing Senior Staff Engineer for an Embedded System Architect (HW/SW) role in our SoC System Architecture Department. This individual will own, define, and drive the exploration and design of our next-generation heterogeneous devices for high-performance computing (HPC) SoCs used in ADAS, IVI, and vehicle computing applications.
Our division's mission is to define cutting-edge solutions for the high-performance computing market, primarily in automotive applications, with future expansion into industrial and server markets. This includes integrating the latest AI networks, user experiences, and cloud connectivity to develop best-in-class solutions.
【Role Responsibilities】
Renesas is the world's leading automotive electronics supplier, and this role presents a rare opportunity to contribute to the next generation of SoC products while shaping Renesas's strategic direction; delivering open, innovative, and trusted solutions.
- Participate in and lead the system (SoC/SW) architecture design of the R-Car platform, including AI compute.
- Define new hardware/software concepts and architectures.
- Communicate and align with the overall system architecture department and customers, primarily in Japan, but not limited to domestic clients.
- Deliver architecture specifications to developers and effectively articulate them to stakeholders, including toolchain, system, hardware/software teams, and technology leadership.
- Identify and evaluate new technologies for integration into Renesas products, including embedded software, artificial intelligence, hardware IP, cloud solutions, and development tools.

Qualifications
【MUST】
- Bachelor's or Master's degrees in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field; Ph.D. is a plus.
- Able to communicate smoothly at a business level in both Japanese and English
- 5 years of SoC hardware and/or embedded software design on SoCs and/or ASICs.
- Strong expertise in SoC architecture and CPU subsystem (ARM, RISC-V…)
- Expertise in ADAS or IVI use-cases
- Good know how of embedded software architectures (Hypervisor, LINUX, QNX…)
- Good know how of AI HW/SW architectures
【WANT】
- Experience with heterogeneous multi-device systems involving GPU/NPU/FPGA.
- Experience in hardware design (SystemC / RTL / Verilog) is a plus
- Experience in video pipeline, embedded AI compute or chiplet is appreciated
- Experience in C/C++ & Python is a plus.
- Experience with ARM and/or RISCV ISA is a plus.
- Knowledge of Linux kernel and driver development is a plus.
- Knowledge of internal inference engines like TFLite, OpenVINO runtime, ONNX runtime, TVM runtime, etc is a plus.
