Job Summary

Network Engineer, serving within the Network Services Team, will be a contributing member responsible for technical aspects of existing and new systems from inception to deployment to operational handover. Areas of focus will be infrastructure systems with heavy emphasis on firewalls, routers, switches, load balancers, wireless LAN controllers etc. This position will be on the frontline of new global technologies introduced to Metlife Japan and will help create a more modern, efficient, and automated environment. Thereby giving our IT environment the highest standard of network services possible.

Responsibilities

· Network troubleshooting and maintenance for a nationwide network of firewalls, routers, switches and load balancers in Japan

·Configure and install various network devices and services: must be proficient in managing and configuring Cisco network devices, PaloAlto security devices, Citrix load balancers etc

· Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations

· Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure

· Follow global corporate and industry standards and procedures, comply with and resolve security vulnerability notices

· Liaison with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution: Japanese is preferred but not mandatory

· Collect and analyze required network device information for dispatching to HW maintenance vendor

· Interact with US network team and overseas counterparts 

Requirements (Experience, Skills, Education)

- This is a hands-on role

- Business level English and Japanese (speaking, reading, writing)

- 4-5 plus years' experience working as network engineer or senior network engineer

- Deep knowledge of Cisco network devices and appliances, at the installation, configuration, and management/maintenance level

- Deep knowledge of PaloAlto security devices at the installation, configuration, and management/maintenance level

- Experience with Citrix load balancers including configuration and maintenance

- Proficient at network protocols, network troubleshooting, network engineering

- Ability to learn and master a wide variety of different technologies

- Ability to navigate and document complex internal processes

- Positive attitude with a growth style mindset (loves challenges)

Preferable

- CCNP or CCIE level knowledge or experience

- PCNSE level knowledge or experience

- Experience working as bilingual network engineer in global corporations

- Network automation, CICD, network DevOps

- Cloud infra experience (not mandatory
