The Role
As a Regional Coordinator in the Tour Director Department your responsibilities will be varied throughout the season.
As part of a small team, you will help support our freelance Tour Directors across Japan.
Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
- First point of contact with Tour Directors (TDs) when calling or visiting the office.
- Assisting TDs pre-tour with materials, documentation & communication relating to their tours
- Answering queries and questions from Tour Directors.
- Assisting the TD department team with daily issues that may arise due to delays & unforeseen events on tour.
- Liaising with Operations staff in Tokyo as well as staff in Zurich and Boston.
- Supporting the TD Department team by assisting with other administrational responsibilities.
- Supporting the team with recruitment, training and preparation for tour of new TDs.
- Looking at long-term solutions to improve the efficiency of the office processes.
Requirements
- Fluent in English
- Fluent in Japanese
- Permission to work in Japan without restriction
- You are a people person
- Confident & friendly attitude – customer orientated mindset.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong initiative with proven problem-solving skills.
- 'Nothing is impossible' & innovative attitude.

This role is onsite in the Kyoto Regional office.

The Educational Tours, Ultimate Break and Go Ahead Tour Director Department in Kyoto looks after the recruitment, training, support and welfare of our freelance Tour Directors based all over Japan. During an average ten day tour, our Tour Directors remain with the group from start to finish and run the logistics of the tour. The Kyoto Office works closely with our colleagues in the Operations team based in Tokyo and the role of Regional Coordinator includes two/three days trips to Tokyo about four times a year, usually during Autumn and Winter.
The tourist spring season runs from March to April & the summer peak from the beginning of June until the end of July. Tours take place all over Japan and throughout the year.
