About the role 

The Chief Accountant is responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial operations of the luxury hotel, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and financial integrity in accordance with company policies, local regulations, and international accounting standards. This role supports strategic decision-making and safeguards the hotel's financial performance. 

What you will do 

  • Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and cash management 

  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports 

  • Ensure compliance with local tax laws, statutory requirements, and internal control procedures 

  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis in coordination with hotel management 

  • Monitor revenue, costs, and profitability across all departments 

  • Supervise and train accounting staff, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in financial processes 

  • Coordinate internal and external audits and respond to audit findings 

  • Maintain fixed asset records and oversee inventory and cost control systems 

  • Work closely with department heads to provide financial guidance and support operational decisions 

  • Ensure adherence to brand standards and corporate financial policies 

What you bring 

  • Professional accounting certification (CPA, ACCA, or equivalent) preferred 

  • Minimum 4-5 years of accounting experience, ideally within a luxury hotel or hospitality environment 

  • Strong knowledge of hotel accounting systems and financial reporting standards 

  • Fluent English required; native-level Japanese proficiency required 

  • Ability to prepare financial reports and communicate effectively in both English and Japanese 

  • Strong analytical, leadership, and organizational skills 

  • High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail 

Language Requirement (Detailed) 

This position requires daily use of Japanese at a native level for communication with local authorities, tax offices, auditors, and internal staff, as well as fluent English for reporting, coordination with corporate offices, and communication within an international hotel brand environment.
