Character Rigger - SAFEHOUSE
SAFEHOUSE is looking for an experienced Rigger to work on multiple unannounced game and film projects. The ideal candidate for the job will be an advanced user of Maya with several years of experience with both realistic and stylized characters, creatures, and vehicles in their portfolio. They will be comfortable creating tooling to help support animators, as well as performing testing to be sure the rigs maintain a level of quality through changes in lighting and shading. They will also be expected to maintain and troubleshoot their rigs through all phases of production.
At SAFEHOUSE you will get to work alongside leading artists, designers, and some of the best talent in the industry such as Takuya Suzuki (Diablo III, StarCraft II, FINAL FANTASY XV), and leading Unreal Engine innovator Erasmus Brosdau in a small, tight-knit team on our latest projects. SAFEHOUSE as a company has worked on or contributed to projects touching just about every major IP produced by Japan in the last 5 years. We also have several projects in process right now that are very prominent, global IPs, as well as wrapping production last year on
Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance
, which was released on Netflix in October 2024.
While we strongly prefer candidates who can live in Tokyo and work at our office in person, we're open to discussing a remote arrangement for the right person.
Requirements:
- 4+ years of character rigging experience for games or films
- Demonstrable skills in stylized and realistic facial, body, and prop rigging
- A high-level understanding of Maya
- Deep knowledge of anatomy and movement
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Ability to coordinate between technical and art team members to ensure rigs are meeting all project requirements
Pluses:
- Experience with Unreal Engine and the requirements of real-time rendering on character rigs
- Experience in
both
the games and film industry
- Prior animation or character modeling experience
- Passion for pushing the state of the art in real-time production
- High degree of self-motivation and initiative
- Willing to explore new techniques and integrate them into the production pipeline
