Description

We are seeking a talented Stream Platform Engineer to join our team at Rakuten. Our payment systems using credit cards, e-money, the Web, and apps are no longer inseparable from our lives. As a key contributor on a high-performing team, you will be working with a talented team of engineers to design and develop high-performance, scalable, and reliable messaging solutions.

Our system strategy department handles architecture design and introduction of new technologies to support the expanding service lineup. The scope of responsibility is wide-ranging, including card payment systems, credit management systems, Rakuten e-NAVI, Rakuten Card application, call center systems, and other systems.

Position Details

• Designing and implementing messaging solutions using Apache Kafka.
• Ensuring the performance and availability of Kafka clusters.
• Contribute to application development on multiple large-scale, mission-critical systems.
• Troubleshooting and resolving production issues.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and solve business problems.
• Staying up-to-date with new and emerging technologies and trends in the field.
• Work collaboratively as a key contributor on a high-performing team to develop and deliver.
• Promoting best practices for development and deployment in an streamed environment.

Mandatory Qualifications

• Strong experience with Apache Kafka and its related technologies. Understanding of Pulsar as well is a plus.
• Hands-on experience with configuring and tuning Kafka for high performance and scalability
• Knowledge of the principles and practices of distributed systems
• Experience with message queueing and event-driven architectures
• Strong programming skills in Java with Jakarta and Microprofile.
• Python for development with Spark
• 2+ years professional experience as developer or software engineer
• Experience using one or more NoSQL databases such as Cassandra, Mongo, AWS DynamoDB
• Experience with using development tools, including JIRA, Git, and Jenkins.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills coupled with analytical problem-solving skills.
• Experience owning a project from concept to production, including proposal, discussion, and execution.
• Candidates should be flexible / willing to work across this delivery landscape which includes and not limited to Agile Applications Development, Support and Deployment.

Estimated Salary: ¥15,000,000 per year
