Job Title:

Synthesis Chemist – Lead/Staff/Master Scientist

Summary:


• Provide technical expertise and leadership on new product development efforts for new silicone-based polymers, oligomers or silane materials as a project leader.

• Drives multiple New Product Introduction (NPI) projects in CAS-PE with sustainability and differentiation from competitors' one according to MGPP (Multi Generation Product Planning), by cross-functional teamwork.

• Explore new technology bases. Conduct studies to improve scientific foundation for existing products. Develop and document next generation proprietary technology pursuing appropriate intellectual property protection.

• Work cross-functionally to develop scale up strategy and assist with the scale-up of newly developed products from lab to plant.

• Evolve as an impactful team player with good organizational citizenship

Responsibilities Include:

  • Responsible for product development with NPI process - design, synthesis and development of new silicone-based polymers, oligomers or silane materials
  • Will develop & execute novel synthetic pathways to produce new product candidates for new applications in silicone additive for CAS/PE applications.
  • Explore new technology bases. Conduct studies to improve scientific foundation for existing products. Develop and document next generation proprietary technology pursuing (a) appropriate intellectual property protection, (b) appropriately promote the new technology by supplying technical literature or external presentations to customers, at conferences, or at trade shows.
  • Collaboratively work in a global matrix organization and able to manage multiple stakeholders across functions.
  • Lead & demonstrate safe work practices in lab; Exhibit & promote pro-active safe behaviors in lab activities.
  • Work collaboratively in a team setting & work with cross-functional team to execute project plans for timely positive progress – Technical problem-solving aptitude is required.
  • Required to effectively communicate the results meritoriously with global partners & customers. English language proficiency is needed.

  • Qualifications:

    The following are required for the role

    Basic Qualifications:

  • PhD with 7-12 years of experience or with > 15 years of experience in organic chemistry or polymer chemistry- having experience in Silicone chemistry is highly desirable.
  • Experience in handling polymer synthesis procedures in a safe & efficient manner and ability to develop technology transfer documents for scale up.
  • Knowledge & expertise in synthetic chemistries and standard characterization techniques (NMR, GC, GPC etc. > ,) of small molecules and polymers
  • Strong safety ethics and experience in conducting safety reviews, hazard analysis, etc.,
  • Excellent verbal and written Japanese communication skills
  • Good verbal and written English communication skills
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Exposure to silicone chemistry – hydrosilylation, equilibration, condensation and related synthetic methodologies
  • Experience in matrix organizations interacting with global stakeholders
